I am not savvy enough to figure out how to post a poll - but I am wondering if anyone has started shopping yet?

I usually like the hubbub of holiday shopping and typically start early am on black friday. This year, I am thinking if I start earlier I can lessen the hit to the budget - I figure if I spread it out over a few months it won't hurt so bad. So for the first time ever I am "planning ahead". I purchased a few things from amazon on the free shipping deal (online shopping is something else I don't usually do)

My poll options were going to be something like

A. Yes, almost finished.
B. Purchased a few things.
C. Starting thinking about gift ideas but no purchases yet.
D. Haven't given it any thought yet
E. No, I'll worry about it Mid-Dec.

Thanks for sharing!

This year I'm a B. I've purchased a few things. Usually at this time of year I'm a C with most of my shopping starting in October for the kids November for DH and others, but a few bargains came along and I didn't want to miss out on them (pre-sale on Toy Story Mania for Wii and DS Lite for $99, etc.). I have a few other things planned out, i.e, oldest DS is getting his first cell phone but I'm waiting till november or so as I don't want to pay service fees until I have to. The kids make lists for Santa and go see him when he shows up at Bass Pro Shops (Got to love free photos with Santa :thumbsup2) so I have to wait to see what goes on the lists/what they ask for when they visit before I finalize my shopping.

I have not started yet either. However, just this week my husband and I decided that within the next pay check or so, we'll start picking up a gift or 2 each week until we hit BF and then our usual large shopping trip a week or two before Christmas.

This far still from the holiday I'll only buy things that are a really good deal. Then I wait until as close to the holiday as possible for the things I have to pay full price for.

I have the majority of my shopping done. I start shopping for the next year immediately after Christmas. When I see something I think would make a good gift, I get it. That way, I have nothing to worry about when the busy shopping season begins. I've always done it this way and it works beautifully.

I've tried.

A few weeks ago I purchased the perfume my DD wanted, but I had no self control, and couldn't wait to give it to her.
Yesterday, I picked up a few things for the girls, but forgot about them being in the bags that they helped me carry in from the car.:headache:

So I guess my answer would be no:upsidedow

I totally understand - I can't resist giving my hubby his gifts early either! I got him a Charger football polo shirt and of course gave it to him the first week of football - so UGH...that gift idea is gone.....

My other problem is if I buy something early, I have to hide it then I forget I have it and find it sometime after the holiday....and I come out and go Oh I was supposed to give you this for Christmas.....This year I plan on having 1 plastic tote to store any/all "early" purchases - before I get around to wrapping them. But so far the amazon box is hidden in the spare bedroom!

I actually just bought one gift for my dd because it was such a good deal. She wanted this bike for her b-day last month but it was $170 so I told her no way. Well, it was still in my cart at Amazon and the other day I happened to go into my cart and thr bike was now $80 with free shipping:cool1:

Since I was laid off in January, 8 months ago, I doubt that there will be much Christmas shopping at this house. :sad2:

I'm almost done! Since we'll be in WDW the first week of December I've been motivated to get it done and wrapped before I go.

I've made my list, and being laid off since February, very grateful that I only have my mother and boyfriend to buy for! We're going to the Big E this week, so I haven't bought anything yet, but afterward, I want to get one gift every week or two.

I am 75 percent done. Just need to buy four more gifts and I am done.

I can't say I am almost finished, but I am about 75% done total. I have a few more people to shop for and a few more items for those I've already bought for.

I'm the same way! We draw names for the next Christmas while we are still together for Christmas on my side of the family, makes it so much easier for me to get started. DH's family waits until Thanksgiving to draw names, so I always have those to buy in December. Otherwise my goal is to be done and have it all wrapped to go under the tree when the tree goes up.

Buying all year is easier on the budget too! Although, sometimes it does backfire... yesterday we gave DD the Wii game Toy Story Mania. DH planned it as a Christmas gift, but I couldn't wait to play it :rotfl:

I can barely get over that we have had virtually no summer. Thinking about
Christmas is just to remote for me at this point.

You are right, you were robbed of your summer. Sorry. :sad1:
