So I got DH to part with a bunch of old electronics stuff. There's a local electronics recycling thing tomorrow so prior to that I took it to a metal yard to see if they would purchase any of it.

As they sorted, one of the guys there spotted a few circuit boards and said they might have gold in them, another customer of his said he could get about $60 worth of gold out of the porcelain piece.

So I came home and started googling, but mostly I am finding a chemical process you can do, which I'm not really interested in. I'm wondering, though, if I can find a place that will purchase them for that reason.

When I was in college about 30 years ago, one of the professors always cut the gold part off the old boards. No idea what he got for them.

most circuit boards have precious metals in them. But it is a miniscule amount. $60 worth of gold? What is it? Seems unlikely.

Just dump it in the recycling. You would need to process MANY boards to get a decent amount of metal out of it.
