Missing...my motivation.

Last seen...a few months ago.

If found...please return, there is a reward offered.

Thanks!

Hedda,

Here's a quick swift kick on your okole. Get out there, and get your training done. That is an order!

That is all.

Found it and it is heading back to you. Get out there and gitr dun you will feel so much better:flower3:

To get myself motivated I watch videos on youtube of last years Disney Marathon. Works every time!!!;)

Good luck!

Maybe it is hanging out with mine??

I found it when I was trying on swimsuits in the spring. There it was, right in the dressing room! It's mine now and you can't have it back!

Getting out there is the tough part - On my low motivation days, I usually have to bribe myself and take small steps. First I'll get changed into my running gear, then I'll go and sit outside and push myself to the end of my driveway. I usually feel better about things once it gets done :)

Do you have a running or walking group you can go out with? I usually find it helps if you have an appointment put into your calendar :)

Hey! That was mine! I went back to look for it after that comfort cheese cake and it was Gone!!! I just figured it just got up and left by itself! :lmao:

Me too! Me too! And I have a set of Disney Vacation Planning videos that I pull out and watch when my "inspiration for perspiration" is lacking. There's nothing like remembering why I started this whole thing -- because I wanted to have an excuse to go to Disney World. Now I love the races as much as I love the parks -- and I might even love the medals more... :goodvibes

Suzanne, I think every runner/walker goes through those unmotivated periods. I agree that sometimes the "just do it" thing works for me -- I make a promise to myself about mileage for the day, then do it, and that makes it easier to make a promise to myself about the next day's mileage -- then pretty soon I've got a streak going. Factor in rewards like lattes or scented soaps or a pedicure -- whatever gets you going that you can afford. If you respond better to the stick than the carrot, you can always use my get-moving mantra: "Train to avoid pain." You'll feel a LOT better in the parks after the race if you are prepared for race day. You wanna have energy left for the Rock 'n' Roller Coaster, right?

You've got the whole WISH team rooting for you now -- Hope you're motivated! :cheer2::cheer2::cheer2:

Suzanne Repeat after me..."Goofs do not slack, Goofs do not crack. Goofs will help keep you on track!" :goodvibes:cool1::thumbsup2:lmao:

I am also one who is motivated by small bribes. It works to get me out of bed at 5 am when I don't want to. Usually it's food! Although sometimes a negative bribe works, too. Like "If I DON'T do it now, I'll have to double up tomorrow" That also helps to get me out of bed!

Don't sweat what you haven't done lately. Just start again. You gotta be ready for the fall race season, right?

Suzann...mine's sort of on vacation, too...or reverse hibernating. It's been over 100 degrees many days here, and since I travel for work to the NW a lot, it is terribly hard to get motivated to get outside when I'm home!

Hang in there...for me, as soon as an event is coming up on the calendar, I get more motivated!

Betsy - I think you hit upon my motivation issue.
It is 3 1/2 months until my next big event and that, plus the triple digit weather, gives me every excuse and sub-concious reason not to make running (and other exercises) a priority. I am still getting out there and doing it, so to speak. However, my 6-7 days per week has become 4-5 days per week, and my long sessions have gone from 10-12 mile runs to 6-8 mile runs, etc... I think the only exercise I have been incresing my distance with lately is swimming, and that isn't as heat sensitive as running and biking. I figure as long as I stick it out during this tough period, I'll regain that motivation as I close in on my late October half-ironman in Austin.

Thanks everyone for the pep talk.

Maura, great Goofs slogan!!

While I am still not where I want to be, I did put the $$ in the bank today for Race for the Taste 10K and Tower of Terror 13K registration fees. I will be officially signing up in the next day or two.

Good Suzanne, you can still get it going! Those events will be such fun since you've got some motivation going. It will grow!
