I consider myself a big Disney fan, but I never really know what this was. I looked at the website last night, wow! I am the most shocked that I never really heard of it, lol Here is the website if anyone is curious.
http://www.disneygoldenoak.com/

again I was just surprised that I did not know it existed probably because it is not in my income range, at all!:rotfl:

My DD and I would LOVE to go take a tour...we did see the entrance to it as we were on the bus going to one of the parks from Port Orleans Riverside...can't see much from the road except what appears to be a gated or guarded entrance...

"Priced from $1.7 million" Who would want to live at WDW anyway? I'll bet cleaning up Pixie Dust all the time is a real hassle! Yeah, yeah....that's what I'll keep telling myself

Trust me, the homes in the Golden Oaks community are breathtakingly beautiful. My aunt is a world renowned molecular biologist and a huge Disney fan. When the first press release for Golden Oaks was announced she was one of those "Sign me up! Sign me up!" people. Now, 2+ years later, she owns a home in the Silverbrook neighborhood of the community. She moved in not too long ago and my jaw literally hit the floor. Not only is the entire community gorgeous but her home is the most extravagant thing I've laid eyes on. Heck, the guest suite is larger than my entire house.

If I ever win the darn powerball or nursing salaries suddenly become $5 million per year, I plan on being her neighbor (or my daughter and I could "Why don't you and Madeline move in with me? I have 5 extra bedrooms and 6 extra bathrooms!") Crap, I'm pretty dumb not to jump on that offer!

I would certainly move back in with family with an offer like that. I was always curious to see how many homes they have actually sold. Congrats to your aunt.

Very nice and very costly ! Count me out due to price & DH doesn't want to retire or live in FL lol. Me I would love to live at St Thomas USVI :)

Just out of curiosity, does your aunt get special perks at the parks?

Aside from the Golden Oak Resident Pass (Premium AP but also includes, I think, individual tickets that can be given to guests), the community also provides door to park transportation and participation in EMH.

Edited to mention that she also has concierge services available to her: VIP tours and the like but at cost though discounted from what the "normal" WDW visitor would pay for such a tour.

It is not the 1.7 million that will get you, it is the homeowner's fees and association rules.

If my HOA made me buy a $400 mailbox to match the others when we bought our house, imagine what a PITA that HOA would be?

Of course, when my lottery ticket comes in, I am still moving there.

The problem with getting a $1.7million++ home in WDW is that I would never be able to go to work again cause I would be on permanent vacation. Oh yeah, And I would have to have $1.7million to begin with.:rotfl2: kmb584 does your aunt want to adopt a 35 y/o nurse? I'm available.;)

Put me on that "adoptable" list too!!! :thumbsup2

Can you have a pet there? I'd really want my doggie.
:goodvibes

.

Are these the homes that are just off the Osprey Ridge golf course. There are some beautiful homes being built there.

For starting at $1.7 Million, you should be able to have a world-class menagerie, if you like.

I think I answered my own question!!! The Golden Oak website has a video now. (Didn't have it before when I scoured the site to dream.)

In the video, there are children running in the house alongside a beautiful sweet doggie. Awwww. I guess pets ARE allowed!! Woo hoo!
:goodvibes

WOW!!!

Thank you for posting. I had never heard of Golden Oaks either!
