We don't get to go out to the movies much, so I wait for them to come on the movies on demand on charter........
the most recent movies we watched were

Norbit ( yes very funny if you like eddie murphy)

The Weight of Water ( very good, changed a bit from the book, but still good)

Breach ( about the FBI spy Hansson......very good, love Chris Cooper)

Wild Hogs ( some very funny parts, i like martin lawrence, and william h macy...)

I really really want to get a babysitter so hubby and I can go see U2 3D!!!!!!:)

I personally wait until they come out on DVD and buy them used at Blockbuster or similar.

Some good ones recently:

Transformers (just a fun action flick, don't need to be a fan of the cartoon to enjoy).

Waiting

Grandma's Boy (one of the characters is the guy who plays Warden Wilson on the Safari ride at AK LOL)

:offtopic: OMG! LOVE U2!!! :lovestruc

See what happens when you watch too much spongebob, you don't even know that your favorite band has a new movie coming out!:happytv:

Now, I just have to find a sitter and convince DP to go. Last movie we saw in the theater was Meet the Robinsons, and I can't even remember the last movie we saw in a theater that wasn't rated G!

OK, here's our pics, although some of them may not be recent:
I agree with Wild Hogs - funny movie!
The Guardian - with Kevin Costner and Aston Kutcher
The Departed - Matt Damon, Leonardo DiCaprio, and Jack Nicholson
and we're big fans of all the Harry Potter movies.

We had a Disney movie marathon with the DDs last weekend....they were all good. ;)

The Golden COmpass was pretty decent. Waitress was GREAT, perfect rent.

I'm reading "His Dark Materials" now (that's the trilogy that starts with Golden Compass). Great book, now I have to see the movie LOL

So am I! I just finished the Golden Compass, and will start the next one as soon as the family checks out of our guest bedrooms. ;)

As for movies, we saw Sweeney Todd recently and thought it was excellent. We're big Musical Theatre queens, and DP is a HUGE fan of every version of Sweeney and even he didn't have that many nit-picky things to say. (Well, he wasn't fond of Helena Bonham Carter, but I thought her different take on the role worked in the film genre.)

Anyway, thumbs up for Sweeney

The Orphanage (Director of Pan's Laborynth) - Jumped out of my seat like 4 times, and had to cover my eyes! Other than that GREAT! Must see!

Evan Almighty - Funny, not as good as Bruce Almighty, but still funny.

East of Eden - Really good movie, didn't think I would like it at all, but James Dean, my god! I needed a napkin to wipe the drool up, great story and great acting.

Sweeney Todd (The Musical) - Glad I saw the movie first, the musical would have had me so confused, but it was really good, and well done, I loved the way our version had the actors playing the instruments on stage. Really cool idea.

I've read and reread the books many many times. The movie is decent...but the book? WAY better!

The Orphanage (loooooooooooved it)

LOL, yep all we get to see at the theater is the G rated ones too! last one was Ratatouille!! LOL

yes the guardian and the departed were both excellent! loved them!

Golden Compass....I would love to see this movie too.....because DANIEL CRAIG ( aka james bond) is in it....
but yeah the books sound good too, I would love to read them also....lots of controversey surrounding them. I love that. :)

I saw Sweeney Todd way way back in NYC on broadway, would like to see this as well

These are older movies, but we recently rewatched Chocolat and A Girl in the Cafe - two terrific films!

If you see anything this year, see Juno. It's one of the best movies I've seen in years. Funny, down-to-earth, and heart-warming. I saw it first with my fiance, and then we both went again with my mom. She loved it too, and said she might take my dad now. It's for anyone.

i do want to see that one too!

Not a movie that we normally would watch , 23

We both really enjoyed it. It was just scary enough and had some eye candy (well we did watch the unrated version:confused3 ).

I'm back in Phoenix tomorrow night through Valentine's Day (:guilty: How awful is THAT.). I noticed Juno was available on In-room movies: I'm thinkin' I'll watch it there...

Watched three good ones over the weekend.

"Across the Universe"......amazing cinematography and great Beatles music. Didn't think I would like it but it was really cool.

"Sicko".....Michael Moore's documentary about the health care system in our country. Made me furious and I haven't stopped talking about it to everyone at work today. I'm in the HR/Benefits industry so I could relate to many of the frustrations felt by the people in the documentary. Very, very interesting.

"King of Kongs".....a silly little documentary about two guys competing for the world record high score on Donkey Kong. I know it sounds odd but the two guys were just so compelling I couldn't stop watching. The one guy, Billy, is such a delusional ego-maniac it's hard to believe he is for real. The other guy, Steve, is so sweet and humble I found myself on the edge of my seat cheering him on in the final few minutes of the film as he tried to beat the record. He just needed this to give his life some validation.....to say he was "the best" at something. Definitely worth watching.....even if you aren't a video game fan(I'm not)

I loved Chocolat and the girl in the Cafe.... Bill Nye is incredible in that.

I have not seen too many movies lately as some of you know I have been dealing with getting my DH well....but I did get to see Sweeney Todd.....it was a wow.

I am adding Orphanage to my must see's, I wanted to Juno?? anyone see that one?

Also Weight of water... didn't you find that so intriguing.. I read the book too, but the movie was unsettling to me so much that I had to research the murders that did take place on that island off the coast of New Hampshire or Maine.

OK, watched two more.

"30 Days of Night"- crazy vampire movie. Paul loves the scary ones so I have to watch them as well. It was actually very well done. Good scares and characters you sort of care about. If you like scary movies give it a try.

Also watched "For the Bible Tells Me So." I had read about it here on the boards and it did not disappoint. Very thought provoking which was just what I needed after watching vampires run rampant in Alaska!
