I heard about these from an interview with the author, Ridley Pearson, on a podcast. The series is the Kingdom Keepers. While the supposive target is teens, these are some amazing mystery books. The author did extensive, behind the scenes homework that is used in the books. There are many places we know, and places off stage that we have heard about but do not know.

The books are a very easy read, and really enjoyable. I read the first two in a week (and not feeling good a lot of the time). I highly suggest anybody that is looking for a different fix to try either of the Kingdom Keeper books. Book one is mainly in Magic Kingdom, book 2 in Animal Kingdom. A new one should be out in September.

I totally agree - they were loads of fun to read (my mother agreed too!). And it was a really nice way to get some Disney magic in the middle of a Midwest winter! The new one will probably be one of the few books I get next semester. It was nice to be able to read a new story with some Disney characters in it (admittedly most are villians, but that's fine with me) that is not intended for preschoolers.

Just ordered the first one- should come next week. I teach middle school Language Arts and Literature so I pretty much only read young adult books anyhow. My husband heard the same interview and told me about it. Then, what do you know, the book was in Junes Scholastic order form.
Really looking forward to it! :yay:

Spent three days at Disney before Easter and then went from there on a cruise, and that was my cruise read for the trip. The first one was a fun, easy read and gave the perfect Disney fix. Am waiting to get the second and passed the first onto my kids.

I love these books to! A very fun read, even for a grown up :) I have heard there may be a movie deal in the works to!

I have read them both and really enjoyed them. I know they are meant for young teens, but hey, it's Disney!!!!

So glad to hear there is a 3rd on it's way.

Cool! These books sound great! I have been needing a new fun book to read! I'll have to check out the June Scholastic order. Thanks so much for sharing this information! They'll be great to read on my way down to WDW this summer.:thumbsup2

I read Kingdom Keepers, but didn't know there were others. I'll have to read them. I loved Kingdom Keepers--it was like a child fantasy come true!

We love the Kingdom Keepers series!! DH and I read all of them before the kids!!

We also love the Peter and the Starcatcher's series by the same author. They are a prequel to Peter Pan! Great series!!:lovestruc

Just started reading it after hearing Ridley Pearson interviewed on Lou Mongello's podcast. Before agreeing to write a Disney parks-based series, Pearson insisted on total access to everything for his research. Disney let hom go wherever he wanted. Imagine riding through Small World with the sound and the AAs turned off and you can see how he was inspired for the creepier parts of Disney after Dark.

I read the 1st one. I think it is more for pre teens though. I thought it definately left out some info. I was kind of puzzled at the end, because it wrapped up too simply. I liked it, but was not impressed with it. That being said, when I get a chance I will read the second one. But I most likely will try and get it from the library.

I have read them both and have now passed them on to my 65 year old Mom. I can't wait until the third one comes out. I totally agree that the Peter and the Star Catchers series also by Ridley Pierson is a great series.

Can't wait for the 3rd!!!!! One of my favorite books! I read the 1st one and then when I finishe dit i went to the store that night and bought the 2nd. Read the whole 2nd book in like, 6 hours! Awesome read!

That is the podcast I referred to. The imagineer that was his guide was Jason Surrell. He has written a number of books himself and is quite the expert, so what a great guide. And yes, he got to do rides without sound, ride them in the dark, ride them with all lights on, etc.

I have read both, yes. And I love them! The next one is due to come out in the summer, to be set mainly in Epcot, with some DHS. Very fun books (though I'm now terrified of ISAW!)
