Have you noticed the change?

"ME TOO" sept 11 cruise.... i am going..sorry but i just had to get that said :D oh this isnt that thread sorry !! really
hope i didnt offend anyone.:)

Run off to Charm School, BD (and thank you - I've certainly never been thought of in that way by people who really know me...)

I thought it was actually a good suggestion I had that was not flaming - a link to the corresponding thread on the Unofficial DIS Sailing Date - next to the date. I've reread my post and still don't see the flame, but if it's there, well... hey, I've always loved FIRE

Hey Wishing on a Star

I started "The official thread

Glad you posted this :)
What constitutes an "Official" as opposed to your everyday run of the mill thread?

NOT being sarcastic, (Well guess I am a bit) but I have seen "Official" threads before and never quite knew how they got that designation ;)

I sure hope trishy is joking about not posting anymore. There was NOTHING in your post imho that was a "flame"
Cheers,
Grumbo

This is my very last post on the DIS - I'm sure that'll cheer some of you up...

I, too, hope that isn't the case. And, no, no cheer here...

Hey Grumbo!

No, I was not flaming anybody!!! I actually agree with BOTH sides...

A.) The cruise date threads do not bother me, just as they have not bothered Trishy... ( I even started the one mentioned, for my sailing date!)

B.) I do also agree with the OP that there do seem to be a lot of these threads, so a separate category may be a good idea???

Hhhhmmm????? Are you a bit confused about the threads that are being mentioned here? I was simply pleading guilty to my own insanity by admiting that I am the one who started the thread for my sailing date! :jester:

Now, my subject line... "The official thread for the Sept. 21st Wonder". Well, if that subject line alone bothers anyone??? No wonder this topic has gotten so touchy!

Trishy, hope you got my PM!! :D I have really VALUED your comments and opinions here on the board!!!

Wishing on a Star

I was NOT flaming you and the Official thread bit was filled with smilies... I have found the "Official" portion humourous and was joking about it :)

I didn't think there was any flames in this entire thread really. Everything is relative on the net. People's sensitivities run the gamut and this is VERY tame and civilized in most cases.
As for me being confused about the threads? No I am confused, but not about the threads. Its just my normal state at 5:00 am getting ready for work :)

Anyway gotta find the dog to put on the toast and wake up the fridge to get my wife ready for work and then take a shower for a walk. Me confused? Nah

Cheers,
Grumbo

I noticed that there seemed to be more of that type of post on the first page also....less questions that are pertinant to everyone who visits, and more threads directed at a specific sailing. It is certainly the friendliest and most helpful board around and everyone pitches in to welcome new members....but someone just glancing at the first page might see more "community" type of threads than informational types. It is a shame the search feature doesn't work so that new members could learn all that is buried in the hundreds of pages of old posts.

The "community" posts aren't objectionable to me, but I agree they are on the rise and because they are so popular with the people using them, generally on the first page. I wouldn't object to a link from the first page that kept all the date threads in a chronalogical order...new people would find it to join because it would be "right there" but the front page would be information of more general interest. That would also eliminate repetitive threads because you wouldn't have to hunt for your date, it would be all nice and neat like the unofficial DIS cruise list.

Sandy, you hit the nail on the head... I didn't reply to GeniaDana's first post, because I tend to be sarcastic sometimes, (who me??) I didn't want her to think she was being flamed.....

If you don't want to read the post, don't! go onto another topic. Yes, there are a lot of "who's going, etc." but everyone is excited about their trip.... I'm not going until January, but I still read Andy's 8/23 thread, because it's Andy... I don't like shrimp (Sorry, Rae, can I still be your best friend??), but I still read the thread because it's Rae.

I try NOT to read IGTD's post's because I basically know what she's going to post.

Some posts don't interest me, I move on. As much as I love the DisBoards and have made many friends, I don't read every single post on here.

Thanks, Jeanny! I think there are a lot of great posts that may start out a bit awkward but do have value - the great thing is that you can choose to read or not read them!! I have censored out a few posters who I don't particularly care to read - obvious reasons! But there are several that I will read regardless because I know they are (1) funny or (2) interesting or (3) have become a DISfriend.

So as my son's have said "ALSO ME".....love ya' lots Jason and Travis!

If you do have a thread going that you want to follow, and do not want to search back several (dozens..) of pages to reclocate it if it has become inactive, try saving the webpage of the link to your desktop. You can pull it up at leisure and add a comment or bump to reactivate it. If the thread stays active enable the email notification on your user control panel.

The easiest and quickest way to get to a thread you may have participated in even from your birth on the board would be:

(1) Click on "User Cp" at the top;
(2) In the "Subscribed Threads" section, use the "Show Threads From" dropdown menu to choose how far back you want to display;
(3) Click the "Go" button.

This will display all of the threads you posted on from as far back as you want to go. This way you do not need to use the Search feature that is disabled anyway.
