Have you noticed that Disney tix are going up again

I saw on the header Disney is going up to $79 a day for a single ticket. It's funny how they will push the limit because they know people will buy it. I notice each year we renew our annuals it goes up some too so it's not just a one day ticket.

Figures. You'd think in this economy Disney would not do their annual ticket price increase, but maybe this is how they are planning on paying for the "get in free on your birthday" promo.

They have priced us out of the parks, we have not had passes for a couple years now.

I agree; although I have to say we are still trying to figure out if we can do a long weekend in October using the 40% room discount PIN code. The pricing would be almost full price entry for each day, and the killer is knowing how cheap it would be to add a 5th, 6th or 7th day.

Just not enough vacation time left. We really want to hit the Food & Wine fest and the Not So Scary Halloween Party.

They say the national unemployment rate is 7.3%. Well, REALISTIC economists say it's closer to 17 to 18% - or maybe higher. No one has any money for the essentials anymore - let alone - trips to Disney.

The unemployment rate is based upon those individuals currently receiving unemployment. It doesn't include the figures of those whose benefits have expired, those who are working part time instead of full time, and those who haven't applied or qualified for unemployment.

I mean , it's SO MUCH eaiser than doing something smart like,,I don't know,,MAYBE LOWER PRICES A LITTLE TO DRAW IN MORE PEOPLE !!!

It seems that they are following Universal's lead here. Universal just did this on the one day passes only. I am going to do some more research, but from what I understand initially, it only affects the one day ticket. Both entities are viewing it as a "tax" on one day trippers. It does also tie in with their promotion this year, which I think is totally wrong on their part.

As much as I agree with everyone, the bottom line is people continue to pay their prices so they are going to continue charging as much as they can. That is business. Not my opinion of the right thing to do, but nobody ever asked me, and they are and have been for years, making money hand over fist, so somebody knows what they are doing there.
Friends arrived at MK 11am Christmas morning and after waiting over 30 min to get to the MK gates to the parking lot, they were told the park was already full.
Prices are not going to go down if people will pay, it is when they won't.

per ticket,(and they will) that they will do a year long celebration commemorating the one hundred dollar mark ?!?!?

I'm going to have to agree - our thoughts on going away for a long weekend in October are not looking very economical. Ticket prices are a big factor.

well, the only good thing is, i better get a $79 gift card for my birthday gift (since i have an AP), in lieu of the $75 gift card, for the birthday celebration promo. not too smart on disney's part, it seems this will COST them money in the long run because of that.

According to the AllEars Ticket Pricing History page, it does appear to only be an increase on the 1-day tickets. The 2-day and 3-day base ticket prices appear unchanged ($149/$212).

My strategy for dealing with the increase prices is to go for decreasing numbers of days. We have a week reserved at the Fort for Thanksgiving 2009 in a partial (7 nights) for about $375 - with my 3 kids now all adult ages in Disney pricing, 5 adult tickets are about $400/day. So for us it's not the gas prices or the cost of the campsite, it's the darn tickets. Sure, I could buy more days but then we wouldn't be able to come as often as we do. That's our trade-off coming from Alabama.

I think when we come this year we might do 1 day in a Disney theme park, then we might try Disney Quest one day and maybe Typhoon Lagoon another day if it's warm enough. That fills 3 days, plus add in Turkey Day itself (bought a tabletop roaster oven at Target - so excited), plus Saturday (college football on tv including the Bama-Auburn game), now I've got 5 days filled. Another day for lounging around the Fort and a day for putt-putt, DownTown Disney, and hitting the oulet mall across I-4, and we won't be hurting for things to do.

So whatever. It's a cat-and-mouse game. Disney raises prices and I adjust accordingly. Until people vote with their feet, it won't change. That is, unless we can get Jim/Ftwildernessguy to have Bobby I. over for dinner again and put some pressure on him

Prices are not going to go down if people will pay, it is when they won't.

I think that about sums it up nicely. Universal and Disney are noticing the foot traffic trends and are adjusting their pricing accordingly. It stinks to high heavens, but if people will pay it this year, it will stand. If people stay away, it won't. Economics is what it is folks, cut and dry.

That being said,
now this being said,,, they suck.


I'm really surprized that they haven't figured out a way to raise prices on items a person buys, WHILE they are at the cash registers paying for items. (ANOTHER WHOLE NEW CONCEPT FOR BLEEDING THE PEOPLE DRY)

I don't pay attention to the parking lot charges usually - cause I have an AP. But - when we went to the MK on 1/3 I noticed car parking is up to $12.00!!! That's just crazy!!

Disney probably makes more money in one day in their parking lots than some make in a year.
