with you when you sold your house? We're getting our house ready to sell and hope to move something with a few acres. I told DH I wouldnt move without taking some of my flowers and he  I did mention it to our realtor and she assured me I could add in the disclosure that I would be taking some of the landscaping with us. I just ordered some flower markers so I can mark which ones I'll be moving so the buyers will know exactly what will be moved. Has anyone done this? Will it be a big hassle with the buyers?

Welcome CajunDixie! :)

Congrats on your new home purchase! :) A couple of acres....that's wonderful, lots of room for the plants, and you! :)

I don't think it should be a problem to take some of your favourite flowers with you. You're letting the purchaser know in advance. I know that some of the Buds (as soon as you post on the F&G, you're automatically a "Bud" :)), have brought special plants with them from house to house.

What kind of plants are you planning on having make the move with you?

Kim :)

Most definatly take your favorites....they will never be loved like they are loved by you.

Oh, that's perfect Vanessa....I like that! :D

You also made me realize that I sure know how to make a short answer, long. lol....:p

No...but a funny thing happened when I sold my last House. The woman hated all the things I had done to the house...including my lovely landscaping. My dear friend next door asked to take all the shrubs, rose bushes and small trees this nut dug up....so all my old bushes are in my neighbor's yard!

 :p :D

My Mom has done that. Even my great-grandmother did that. I have a gardenia and rose bush that I rooted from her stock.

When I leave this house, I will at least take those with me, as well as cuttings from my purple heart and butterfly bushes....:D

Take! Take! Take!!!! (Amid Chaos said it best!)

A lady I worked with was so upset when her childhood home was sold. She said it had a beautiful porch all around surrounded by azaleas that were a lovely sight when they bloomed. She and her siblings (and her mom too) thought about taking some but decided against it. They drove by the house not a month later and the azaleas were all GONE!!! The new owners just ripped them out. My co-worker says it is not as if they were all overgrown and unkempt. She was very upset.

Take! Take! Take!!!

Thanks everyone!!

I plan to move several things, several peonies (from my dad), several different varieties of lilies, a mini rose, glads, and my snowdrop. The peonies mean the most to me since dad and I dug them up together at my aunts (I never knew my grandparents and she never had kids so she was like a grandma to me since she was so much older than dad) a looooooong time ago. She has since passed away. The mini rose bush mom bought for me for Mothers day last year and the lily of the valley dad gave me. The glads are some from dad and some I've bought. And the snowdrop is just my favorite and first perennial. I'm going to plant quite a few colorful annuals so the other stuff wont be missed so much. Very few people around here have the huge variety of flowers that I plant so I figured new people will totally trash everything and start over with evergreen bushes. :scared1:

Good choice. I would also take things that were sentimental to me. I hope your new plants like your new home and weather.

I took bunches of plants with us when we moved 3 years ago. I just put bright ribbon on the plants I was keeping when we put the house on the market. Our buyers didn't care...and obviously aren't gardeners because my beautiful beds are overgrown and nasty now.

I moved some lily of the valley, astilbe, a few raspberry canes and a prickly pear cactus, each of these is from a dear friend.

Bobbi:D

When I moved from GA to FL, I knew that we were going to be in a rental until we decided on exactly where we wanted to buy a house. So, I gave some plants from my garden to my mother in SC. Now, I take cuttings from those to bring here. They are very well travelled plants. ;)
Mother will never move, so I'll always be able to get a cutting. She takes very good care of them. :D
