Have you met the "Mad Scrappers"?!?!?!?

I went to a big scrap event hosted by some CM consultants.
It was my first ever and was quite overwhelmed with the magnitude of stuff these women carried with them.

Well I sat with a group of ladies. 3 super nice. Two not so nice.

Mad Scrapper #1: She was little miss know it all! Everytime I mentioned some great tip I got from this board, or a web site she had a comeback line.
Oh I know a better site, etc. yadda yadda.
I ONLY embellish with ribbon and that's the way to go.. blah, blah 12x12 pages are such a waste, 8x10 is much better... She was truly a bore! I only dressmy daughter in Laura Ashley... UGH!

Mad scrapper #2 : Friend of #1. She sits down to my left (I'm a lefty) and when I got up to inquire about something, I come back to find all my stuff moved over and she has her scrapbook open onto my work space! I waited a few minutes, and she wouldn't close it. I finally said, Sorry but you need to close that book,I have no work space here. She rolls her eyes, looks at #1 as if to say, what do you think? #1 tells her to close it. She turns to me and tells me, I can't plan my layouts if I don't have the pages of the book open!
I was fit to be tied! I wanted to just knock these two nuts upside their heads! I can't believe that in a hobby as wholesome as scrapping there are these witchy my poopy doesn't stink types!

OK, sorry for venting. But I knew I'd get better feedback here than venting to my DH.

So sorry you had this experience. I'm lucky that most of my CM crops I know the ones there. I have been to a couple of crops that had over 150 people at each and I KNOW there were some of *those* kind there , but luckily I was seated with my own buddies and didn't have to get close to them - lol! Hope you had fun anyway.

GOSH!!! HOW RUDE!!! Don't let them bother you. Their bad attitudes with bite them in the end!

This is ONE of the reasons I scrap ALONE!!! Well, sometimes I'll scrap with one of my DD's and their friends, but that's it!! Some women can be SO NASTY!!

I also never know what I want to use in my stash and there is NO WAY I could lug my "collection" anywhere!!! I also take up my entire desk when I scrap!! MINE, MINE, MINE!!!

I couldn't help but laugh on your name for your scrapping table mates.

I know I was stunned by the rolling cases women had brought to the first CM scrap event I went to. Fortunately the girls were wonderful so I felt comfortable in a matter of moments. No nasty Nelly's.

That is sooo sad! I hope I never have to experience that! I went ot a scrpa for CMCs only around Christmas. I joke that I was scrappin' with the big girls! Most of the were directors and executive directors. I was kind of scared and felt very self-conscious about my own scrapping style. I was amazed at how down to earth and friendly they were, though. Telling me what a cutie my nephew was and such.

So sorry about your bad experience. Hopefully you will be pleasantly surprized next time! It has to be better, right?

How sad! Sorry you had to sit next to them. Hey, at least next time you know who NOT to sit next to.

Most of the crops I go to now are with scrapping friends. But I have been to some at stores where the owner had to "monitor" the space used and I've met some very "interesting" people at those. One lady did not scrap a single page - and it was a 12 hour crop She sat and talked the whole night.

I have met them! At an all night crop at my LSS these two ladies came, the crop was full and they freaked out on the girl and told them that they had been PROMISED by the other girl that they could come because it was not full when they called. She explained that was why they had a pay in advance policy and Mad Scrapper #1 went off about giving credit card numbers over the phone and they leagally could not enforce such a policy (???). Anyway, the LSS girl is very nice but easily intimidated so she let them in, they then proceeded to bring in 2 plastic drawer storage. Do you all know the ones I mean? It is waist high, I have a few in my house but would never bring them to a crop and this was on top of their rolling storage. Now I have a CIS Navigator that I bring to crops but I was stunned at the amount of stuff they brought. The rest of us were crammed in because there was really not enough room for 2 extra people. Then the first one spent a large majority of her time walking around the room looking over people shoulders and giving them advice on how they should do their pages. The lady I was sitting with and I were killing ourselves laughing. The best part of the evening was when the lady they say "promised" them they could come to the crop stopped in and laid into them about how she said no such thing and that she had explained the payment policy and they would not be allowed to pull that again. The said they must have misunderstood. It was too funny.

Thanks girls! Yes I overall had a good time. The other ladies at the table made it fun. None of my scrapping buddies were available that day, hell I even tried to get Twigs to come, but she had another committment.

You live and learn! At least mad scrapper #1 carries her "ribbon contraption"
everywhere so I'll know where NOT to sit!

Those are exceptions rather than the rule. Glad you had a good time anyway and you're right - that contraption will clue you in not to sit with them next time!

I've seen them to. And not just at crops but in the stores. Interesting people - I'm glad we are all down to earth people (or it seems like it!).

None of my scrapping buddies were available that day, hell I even tried to get Twigs to come, but she had another committment.

OK, OK it's all my fault you had to sit next to those Mad Scrappers! LOL Glad your overall experience was good. You just have to shake your head at people sometimes.

When I lived in another town a bunch of us got together once a month or so to scrap at somebody's house. We had one lady who would berate anybody who didn't use all CM supplies and told us how we were ruining our photos and children's memories.
There was another who was an OB nurse and gossiped about work the entire time. She didn't realize that 2 of the OB's were neighbors of mine and one was a good friend and the mother of my dd's best friend. I found her gossip offensive. I stopped going for awhile and then she moved away. YAY! Then I started going again.

I am sorry you had a bad experience.....I took my daughter(10) to a crop and sat with these two ladies.....they remind me of your mad-scrappers. They rolled their eyes when my DD sat down. The crop was set up that two 8 foot tables were pushed together. The only person my DD was sharing a space with was me!! Meanwhile she is more creative and particular about her pages then I am!!! The one lady closed up her book and decided that she was just going to shop.....MORE ROOM FOR US!!! People amaze me sometimes!!!
