Have you had braces?

Yup, I had them from December of 6th grade to March of 8th grade.

Nope. Both DS and I had our teeth come in crooked, but straighten out naturally.

I always wanted braces -- just to be like everybody else.

I wore braces for 15 months in ninth and tenth grade. My DH30 is scheduled to get his put on Sept. 30th. He's so excited to finally be getting it done.

5 years as an adult and double-jaw surgery to fix overbite/crossbite. Worst time of my life!!!!!

I got them on at 10, and off at late 16. My orthodontist left the same bands on my teeth for six years, when all my friends were getting theirs off. The end result was six root canals and a tooth self destructing the first day the bands were off. I ate an ice cream sandwich that got awful crunchy.

My jaw is very small, and I had twelve teeth yanked for all the adult teeth to fit, so the braces were a neccessity. My poor boys appear to have the same mouth.

If I did not know better I would think this was me. Same thing I had done to me. My wife thinks I am crazy when I tell her I had 12 pulled at age nine to force my real teeth in. The teeth that held the bands have all been capted. So far my ds does not seem to have my mouth.

Yes, twice! The first time was in high school. My top teeth weren't too bad but my bottom ones were really crooked and crowded. I didn't wear my retainers as I should have, so they ended up crooked again. (It didn't take too long either).

A few years ago I decided I was tired of the way they looked so I got them again when I was around 30. I have a permanent retainer on the bottom teeth so they still look great. I still wear the top retainer sometimes and I've had the braces off for about 4 years.

I have BIG TEETH (like this guy ) and a small mouth so I had to get a bunch of teeth pulled b/c of overcrowding. I then had braces put on when I was 10 and they were taken off when I was 13.

Have you had or do you have braces on your teeth? I am about to hit 15 months of metalmouth (and yes, I am in my late 20's) so I just wanted to see what other DIS-ers had them!

I had them early 20's--15 months is good...I was almost 2 years. I know others who were longer (one was a grandma when she had them).

ETA: I paid for them myself and the best money ever spent. I still wear my retainer--but couldn't for several months when pregnant due to bad morning sickness and very sensitve gag reflex. It bugs me a tooth is slightly out of place and when I do have the money, I will fix it.

We got ours right about the same time Briar.

Im 34 now and have about 4 months left YAY. Should come off right before Christmas so Im very happy!!

Now my teeth are almost beautiful and I'm very happy about it.



It was worth the pain and the expense though both were high.


In fact my dh was looking at pictures this morning from when we were first married and comparing them to now and said " look how beautiful your smile is!"

I luckily had great teeth and never needed braces. My sister and brother did though so I lucked out.

Never had them but I was SURE I needed them in the 7th grade (all my friends had them) I made my parents bring me to the dentist to prove them wrong.

He said "she has perfect, beautiful teeth.. she will never need braces"

I was crushed.. so I use to stick bubble gum and rubber bands around my teeth

Haha! I used aluminum foil, until I found out what happens when it hits a metal filling.

I had them for 4 years, I got them off just before high school. DH had his for 3 years and our DS had them for 2 years, he got them off just before high school started too!
