have you had a tummy tuck?

honey, i say if you can afford it and you think it'll make you feel/look better, DO IT! i've lost 195 lbs (after having gastric bypass surgery) and unfortunately, i'm stuck w/ hanging skin b/c i can't afford to have it fixed and it doesn't hang enough (can you imagine?) for insurance approval. if i COULD have it done, i definitely would, along with an upper arm lift, breast lift and thigh lift. best of luck!

WOW !! That is amazing. Congratulations on your weight loss success.I can't imagine why they would do your TT for medical reasons. There must be a ton of skin remaining from your successful weight loss. There needs to be a way for you to have it removed as a necessity. I really hope you fight this and do it with success.........

If I am correct on this -- I believe that insurance companies consider this cosmetic surgery ?? Anyone else??

Some will cover it is the skin amount is sufficient to cause problems to the person. I don't think they are all the same in their requirements either. It is a shame that they initially pay for the gastric surgery but not the TT that is a direct result of the gastric. I do hope they include this procedure s part of the gastric total package for those of you having to get a gastric.
Good luck.

thank you laurie :) i'm still losing VERY slowly (1-3 lbs per month), even at 22 months postop and i exercise quite a bit, so if fighting my insurance company doesn't work, perhaps toning up more will do a little magic, lol.

I would do this in a heartbeat also!

I am almost to my WW goal and even now I can tell my stomach is never going to be the same after having my son almost 3 years ago. All the exercise in the world isn't going to right this one! :) Once we are absolutely sure there are no more kiddos in the future for us, I am going to start saving for the plastic surgeon!

- I'd also like to hear about the mini tuck after you have it done.

Have you verified that you can get both procedures done at the same time? I tried to have the two for one deal and they wouldn't allow it because it involved two different doctors. Each doc has to schedule their time in the OR with their own team and it couldn't be done. One procedure was medically necessary the other wasn't.

I am for women making themselfs more sexy

I have a friend who had one, and honestly I couldn't tell any difference when I saw her afterwards.

My PS can do both of these procedures. She excells at both from what I can tell. One procedure is medically covered (reduction) and the other (TT) is not so I would only pay for the TT and not the reduction.
After all this talk and some research I have decided to wait for the TT until next year. Yes it would be simplier to be under only once but the recovery from the reduction is long enough and the TT would only ad way more to it. You have been usch a sympathetic ear to chat with. I so appreciate having this forum to do so. I still value all the input and suggestions. I will keep this for future use. I am just to much of a chicken right now to be stitched up all over my body.

I wouldn't do it as a stand alone procedure - mainly because I'll do just about anything to avoid a surgery. I admit I thought about it when I had my hysterectomy. (my surgery was on Monday) I heard from others who'd had it done at that time. I settled for hoping some of the bulge would be cleaned up when they got rid of the fibroids, scar tissue, etc. that were the purpose of the hysterectomy.

Recovering from surgery isn't fun. As someone in the middle of it, I'd avoid anything unneccesary.
