Have you gotten upgrades while using your points?

We booked AKV standard studio and were upgraded to a savanna view. The only reason for our upgrade was due to our original room was " out for maintenance"
 
We were upgraded from a standard view dedicated 2 bedroom to a Savanna view two bedroom last October for our week stay. This is the only upgrade we have had in over 10 DVC trips. So they do happen, but they are rare.
 
We technically got an upgrade at the BWV a few years ago. I booked a SV 1 bedroom. When we arrived, the CM had upgraded us to a Pool/Garden 1 bedroom.

I wasn't very happy about it, to tell the truth. CM offered to put it back to SV but the Pool/Garden room was ready and my DH wanted to watch some dumb football game so we took it. The room was fine. I wasn't rude or mean, but I think the CM was disappointed that I wasn't excited to get the upgrade. Don't know why we got an upgrade.

When I got back home, I noticed our account was messed up due to the upgrade. MS fixed it and all ended well, but I am now very leery of CMs offering upgrades and changes at check in.

We had the exact same thing happen a few years ago with a BWV SV studio reservation....they upgraded my daughter & her friends to a PV studio but when I looked at my accout they had canceled the SV studio and made a new reservation for the PV and charged PV points....took many called and a month or so to get everything straighted out


Seems to be a trend here!
Once I was upgraded from a BWV standard view to a leisure pool view. The trouble was that a tree next to the balcony blocked any possible view. And while they didn't mess up my points, they did charge my credit card rack rate (over $2000) for the stay at check-in. Fortunately I frequently check my credit card charges while traveling and found out about it before check-out, and was able to correct it (although the charge reversal didn't show up for a week or so.)
 
We have probably had 20+ checkins and were upgraded once. We had 5 nights in a value room at AKV over Easter week spring break. I'd requested one of the rare savanna-view values and was told at check-in that we had gotten the savanna value (I was so excited I jumped up and down). Room was not ready though. 30 minutes later we got a call that there was a problem and we were being upgraded to a regular savanna view room! :cool1: I was thrilled since a standard view would have been an upgrade.


A little craziness later, as the resort mistakenly put the value points back in my account and comped the savanna. When I called to make a reservation they said I had points in holding because I had cancelled a reservation. I explained what had happened and they took the value studio points back, but yup, I did get an honest-to-goodness upgrade once. :love:
