I’m nervous too. I haven’t been sick in over a year and a half. I’m dreading side effects. I want to get back to life though and if all goes as planned I’ll get to see DD in May.We get our second (Pfizer) on Friday afternoon and I'm starting to feel a bit nervous about the 'after', I mean I'm not crazy about getting needles but I'll suck it up. But I'm starting to be irrationally concerned with feeling like crap warmed over on Saturday and/or Sunday. My husband was very, very tired and zapped of all energy about a week after the first shot, to the point where he was in bed for 24 hours. I'm hoping he doesn't have a worse reaction.
Regardless, it will be what it will be since we are going in for the second shot come hell or high water. I recognize it's irrational on my part...
I had heard you should wait at least 3 months after having Covid before getting the vaccine, or the side effects from the vaccine could be much more severe because you have very robust antibodies already. However, you might want to make a quick inquiry with a real medical professional. I’m certainly not one of those.Just got another appointment for next month (canceled first one due yo having covid). My husband is scheduled for Friday (recently recovered from covid).

The difference in availability across the country is so weird. I thought I would have to be hunting for an appointment at multiple places for days/weeks. I logged onto Walgreens at 7:30am and across the top it said, “There are appointments available for the next five days in your chosen area (25 mile range.)” From there I had nine Walgreens and dozens of appointments on Friday to choose from.
Our main industry is Hospitality and it’s open to those workers. You’d think things would be booked solid. All I can think is that people aren’t aware they’re eligible? I sincerely doubt it’s vaccine hesitancy given our demographic.

You were supposed to get the second one in January and just now got it? Why is the UK pushing the second vaccine so far out?
This has been the advice given to those in my family who have been vaccinated. Drink a ton of fluids! One thing I did post-shot - for many leukemia immunotherapy drugs, they tell you to drink TONS of water. Since the Pfizer is more immunotherapy than "regular" vaccine, I did the same yesterday, having about 80 oz of water and tea post shot before I went to bed. I don't if it helped, but sometimes, if you think it does, it can. I'm having my spouse and young adult do the same after their shots to see if it helps them...I figure, it can't hurt (and if nothing else, if you get some of the GI issues, it will also be a help

Thank you. One of the reasons I was so scared of COVID is that the symptoms sound eerily close to something I had several years ago. Coughing violently all day, couldn’t go up more than a couple of stairs without being out of breath, high fevers, everything tasted funny (I lost 7lbs in a week), night sweats, slept most of the day. I was sick for months. Thinking about it later I probably should have been in the hospital. Anyway, I never want to experience anything like that again so I will suck it up.The side effects aren't as bad as they sound. I actually got pretty sick with my 2nd Moderna--fever, chills, body aches, nausea, and a headache. But, I planned for feeling sick so took time off and didn't have to worry about work/family obligations and could stay in bed all day. It's also helpful to know that it will last about 24-48 hours and then it's over with. And, you'll be going through this with millions of other people. Misery loves company sort of thing. All in all, it wasn't too bad of an experience.
Maybe but I had been playing around on the website a week ago before I knew I was eligible and it showed the same kind of thing. DD’s friends don’t seem to be having any issues getting appointments either. You might have gotten lucky when you logged on. They might have just opened more appointments. I was up at midnight the other day and CVS and Rite Aid both had tons of openings. When I was checking before I went to bed there were none. But Yay!!! you got an appointment. I do hope you get to see your DD soon

I totally understand being anxious about the vaccination. I had a panic attack after my 1st shot. I just got myself really worked up thinking about the side effects. If it weren't for this thread and seeing everyone's experience getting the shot, I probably would have cancelled. I feel a little silly now having gone through it. It truly wasn't the horrible experience I built up in my mind. I didn't have much anxiety at all for my 2nd shot.
DH got his first dose of Pfizer today. He was like a kid on Christmas.
I qualify now (ended up not getting into the Novavaxx study a few months ago) and I am FREAKING out.
Can anyone calm me down? I have been having LITERAL panic attacks since Friday when I found out. Like, not sleeping, having trouble breathing due to them.
I am T2 diabetic, controlled by diet and Metformin (last A1C was 5.1 or so). I am a recovering alcoholic that has done some damage to my liver and kidneys.
My dr wants me to get the shot. I have never had reactions to shots (or anything except tomato plants!). I just keep freaking out about contraindication between Metformin and the shot.
Anyone on here on Met and have had Pfizer and can give me some deets?
Or, chill me out. I am SO laid back, typically, and I have NO idea why this is causing me so much anguish the last few days! This is totally unlike me, so not sure what the deal is...
