Have you gotten a COVID vaccine?

I'm a teacher and got my shot (Moderna) last Friday after stalking appts all Thursday night. Second shot is scheduled for April 2. Today I sat on a website for 4 hours (6844 people in front of me) and was able to get through and get my husband, who will just start qualifying on Monday as an over 50, an appt for next Friday.

Quick update-after being so sick after my first Moderna vaccine I was fine after my second dose this week. I truly dreaded it but only had a mildly sore arm for 24 hours and maybe a slight headache for a few hours. After my first dose I threw up non-stop for 2.5 hours, it was awful.

I think there’s a lot of truth to the first dose being the worst if you’ve had covid. I had covid (only knew I had it because I lost taste and smell) about 3 months before my first dose. My husband also had covid when I did (no symptoms) and his vaccines the same days I did and he had no side effects from either dose so who really knows.

Here in IN (besides the risk factor stuff and whichever lines of work), you have to be 50+ in the general public to get it. I would be the next group in line, and was actually expecting the 45-49 to become eligible last week, but it did not end up happening. Maybe next week, who knows. My brother in-law got his the same day they opened up 55-60.

I had a first dose of moderna 2 days ago. I felt pretty sick- tired, foggy, weak, chills, sore arm and that all over flu feeling. I could barely get out of bed. The symptoms lasted a little over 24 hours. I woke up feel I great today, but I am worried the next shot will be worse. I don't know anyone else personally who was this bad with a first shot. However, I am excited and blessed to get this vaccination!

I got my first dose of Moderna this morning. My arm is pretty sore, but not unbearable. I took some Aleve to see if that will help. I don’t have any other issues so far. I got it through Kaiser and I have to say how impressed I was with their set up.I was in and out I about 30 minutes and that includes the 15 minute observation time.

I guess I can add that Kaiser reached out to me to make an appointment and I am not 100% sure how I got in relatively early. My best guess is that it’s because I work for a local university medical school which qualifies me as “education”. I wasn’t expecting to get a vax for at least a few months. This was a pleasant surprise.

J & J has been really good so far as far as side effects - I had some chills first nite, but since then, only arm soreness for a few days that I didn't even need Tylenol for

Not so for me! I had bad flu like symptoms (muscle aches, fever, chills, very tired) for a solid day after my J&J shot and my arm is still somewhat sore a week later. Of course I’m a bit odd in that I won’t take Tylenol or Advil unless I’m in very extreme discomfort/pain after a vaccine. I have the mentality that it’s best to let my body fight it off itself if at all possible. The side effects probably would have been a bit more bearable if I would have taken something. The good news was they only really lasted a day.

I've received both doses of the Moderna vaccine (the 2nd shot was over 2 weeks ago) and it was fine. I have pre-existing tinnitus, and got a moderate spike in that for about 2 weeks after the first shot, but then went back to normal. The 2nd shot had no effect on my tinnitus, and while I had mild flu-like symptoms for 1-2 days, it was nothing awful. I'm glad to be vaccinated.

Two of my coworkers who got the J&J shot experienced the same side effects as you. Both had to take sick days...that's how bad they felt.

Just got my Pfeizer shot at 10:45 today
Had a brief hotflash within the 15 min, other family members in the same room had nothing.
Few hours in and my toes & fingers got really cold and the cold is expanding under a few blankets so I guess chills are on their way. Other family member has a sore arm and 3rd is very sleepy

I'm not sad or anything, this is better than getting sick. I was warned I wouldn't be one of the asymptomatics and so I like my odds with this much better.

Update 24 hours later: thank goodness chills never came, the cold feet and hands lasted about 2 hours and after that I've just been feeling a smidge chilly so 2 blankets, and a bit of a headache but nothing like a migraine, I haven't even bothered with a Tylenol. Fingers crossed that was the end of it.

i made a post earlier about going without a vaccine just to see how many here have done it. made a joke about daring to go without getting the shot and it started to turn into a debate.

glad to see everyones experience.

I never put it together that the horrible ringing in my ears to the vaccine. I normally have ringing in my ears but nothing that bothers me, as long as there is other noise around. It has been bad for the last 2 weeks. I had my first shot on Feb 24th. It is getting back to normal now. I was starting to get worried about it.

I had my 2nd shot of Moderna on Friday. I had a sore arm for a few days and an ocular migraine about 1 hour after my first dose. Felt fine until about 12 hours after the 2nd shot. Started with chills and headache then the fever followed. The highest it reached was 102 and I was feeling pretty miserable. Luckily I didn’t have to work the next day because there was no way I could have made it. I didn’t take any otc pain medication and my fever broke a little less than 24 hours after symptoms started... woke up soaking wet from sweat... and have felt pretty much close to 100% back to normal since then. Even the arm soreness is pretty much gone. It is so odd to feel that bad and then have it go away so quickly. Glad to have been vaccinated 🙂
