Have you gotten a COVID vaccine?

I think you're right, and announcements like Michigan's will hopefully build a fire under elderly folks to get vaccinated.

Unfortunately, some people will just not lift a finger to help themselves. They expect someone to do everything for them, and then complain when they miss out because of their own lack of initiative. Hopefully announcements that their period of preference is ending will cause them to take advantage of that preference.
Yup. People complain about the large local hospital running out of appointments and they have been waiting 3 months and it’s not fair...but haven’t tried other hospitals, Walmart, Kroger, surrounding counties that are practically begging people to come, local pharmacies, etc. I know not everyone is tech savvy or has access to car, internet, etc...but try and be proactive and make a phone call. All of these places have online scheduling or schedule by phone.

I concur with you, it's not enough to be on a list, you've got to be proactive. See them out, contact all the stores/pharmacies and whatnot.

Up here in MD, I was on 2 lists and independent of that was able to snag appt. for first & second shot at Walgreens. Fortunately for me, one of my lists came thru and they contacted me about coming in so I was able to cancel my Walgreens appt. On the flip side, my folks are in Fl and on 'the list', both they & I are haunting all the other places they can get a shot - vaccinefinder, walgreens, cvs, winn dixie, publix, walmart and so on...several times per day we check. No luck yet. I'm just hoping we can get them an appointment sometime soon and get the ball rolling for them on their vaccines. In the meantime, we keep looking.

What county are you in? I've been looking at Publix for shots in Lee County w/ no luck. Thinking about expanding out my county search-
Brevard. Ours go quicker than most counties but I still saw availability at around 8:30 am and they opened them up at 7 this morning. I just wish they’d expand and let everyone get it already. I’ve noticed the panhandle counties take forever to fill up

Thanks - that at least gives me hope!

Dh and I got our 1st vaccines on Monday. Here in NY we were in the under 65 with underlying conditions. Our ds got these appointments for us because we weren’t reading our patient portals at the time. The hospital offered a pop up site at a indoor gym about 20 minutes away.
We got Pfizer. Side effects were sore arm. tiredness, headache and back pain.

Where do they live in Lee County? Depending on where exactly they live, there are several counties that would be closer to them than some parts of Lee County.

If anyone from New Jersey uses Virtua I have a number you can call to schedule your shot appointment. You hit the appropriate numbers to talk to a person. It took an hour on hold but we got thru to schedule our appointments for the Moorestown Mall Mega Site. I can PM (Start Conversation) you the number if you like.

Also, have you tried CVS?

Ft Myers

Oh yes, as per my previous posting, CVS, Walgreens, Walmart,
Winn dixie, Publix and so on...

We will keep looking, eventually we will find something. I have my list of zip codes and areas!

This is what we get from Lee County CVS (though it gives all sites in FL) site over the last week as we check (few times per day, starting early in the AM), but as I typed above, we are trying all the other spots as well:

Yeah, when I check VaccineFinder, I see several places in Ft. Myers who supposedly have vaccine in stock, but that doesn't mean they have appointments available.

But just keep plugging away at it. You'll get there eventually.

I literally spent the whole day trying for vaccine appts for my MIL once RI opened up eligibility to 60-64. Got my mom an appt at walgreens in the morning around 7am and then the site stopped working. Finally got my MIL an appt at the state site after constant refreshing around 5:30.

Got first does of Pfizer yesterday. At a county event so crazy well run. Didn’t even feel it. I’m 44 and work in a college (SC). Had some hand tingling, a little sore in jaw and neck and a little light headed in evening. That’s it! Slept fine and today can’t even feel it.

I’m still prepared for bad second reaction so we shall see. They gave me a date and time to return just over 21 days.

So glad to be doing my part to help us to return to normal. My husband will be in next group so hopefully by mid April.
