Have you gotten a COVID vaccine?

Parents got their second Pfizer dose today! My Dad has a shellfish allergy and got flushed in the face after the first shot and it was a bit more intense today so they made him stay longer for observation (30 minutes instead of 15). It subsided on its own and he said he didn’t feel anything at all - his face just got very, very red. Both report being a bit tired tonight but that’s pretty much it. Such a relief to know they are both fully vaccinated now!

I got my second Moderna vaccine yesterday afternoon. I had a horrible reaction about 30 hours after my first dose. I’m 27 hours post second shot and really nervous I’ll have a similar reaction in a couple of hours. So far I have a slightly sore arm and a very mild headache. Fingers crossed I make it through the night w/o throwing up non-stop for several hours.

I'm in Canada, our roll out has been SLOW, I'm a frontline worker in a nursing home, I got my first dose of the Pfizer Vaxx on Monday. The home where I work has 128 residents, those who consented (which was most of them) got their Vaxx in the first and last week of Feb. they all got Moderna. we have had a very INCONSISTENT supply of vaccine, some of my coworkers got their first dose and then it was 6 weeks until they got their second dose because they ran out. it's been an absolute joke.

A lot of people have been saying they are ”Fully Vaccinated” right after they received their second shot, remember you are really only considered fully vaccinated 2 weeks after you have received your second shot or 2 weeks after the J&J single shot. You can say you have received both shots or had the J&J but only fully vaccinated 2 weeks after that last shot.

Have You Been Fully Vaccinated?
People are considered fully vaccinated:

  • 2 weeks after their second dose in a 2-dose series, like the Pfizer or Moderna vaccines, or
  • 2 weeks after a single-dose vaccine, like Johnson & Johnson’s Janssen vaccine
If it has been less than 2 weeks since your shot, or if you still need to get your second dose, you are NOT fully protected. Keep taking all prevention steps until you are fully vaccinated.

I'm 3 weeks post second vaccine. My husband is a couple days past second vaccine. While he hasn't reached full protection yet, I consider us (and celebrate us being) a fully vaccinated household because we can put concerns about vaccine supply and scheduling to the side until they tell us we need a booster. Like so many things with this pandemic, word choice is everything and I think "they" failed a bit in this one.

I received the J&J vaccine about 5 hours ago! Feeling a little tired, but that’s probably just from volunteering at the vaccine clinic all day. Such an amazing experience to see the seniors in my city getting their vaccines.
Quoting my own post with an update... about 6 hours post shot I developed chills, a low grade fever, and a pretty bad headache which all lasted throughout the night. Didn’t get much sleep and woke up several times drenched in sweat. Fever is gone this morning but still have the headache. Hoping that subsides throughout the day.

Me too! Got the J&J vaccine at 9 yesterday morning, and spent the afternoon volunteering at the vaccine clinic. SO HAPPY to see so many people I know vaccinated yesterday, including my DH and my best friend.

I did not expect how bad I was going to feel last night - I usually have a pretty mild reaction to the flu shot every year but the COVID vaccine threw me for a loop. I've still got a fever and headache this morning but I'm about 70% better from what I was last night.

Sounds like we had the exact same experience and same side effects! Hope you feel better soon.

My husband and I have both gotten two doses of the Pfizer vaccine at our doctor's office. We were tired after each shot, but no other symptoms. Excited to both be protected!
We are 38, in Florida, and got "end of the day" doses that someone didn't show up for during the day.

How does it work with the “end of the day” dose for the second dose? Do they schedule you right then and there? Congratulations, btw!

I had my first Pfizer dose last weekend as well as DH. He had chills and felt sick the next day; I was wiped out for two full days afterwards but no fever or chills. Kids had Moderna first dose, were very, very tired for a couple days as well. Now we’re all fine, and scheduled for second doses.

I'm sure "end of the day" is totally individual and there is no such thing as "How does it work?"

In my DD's case, she, her husband, and DGD24 volunteer at a public vaccination site in the Atlanta area (don't know which one). One day, at the end of the day, they were offered vaccinations and got them. All three of them have now gotten both doses of Pfizer, and are still volunteering at the site.

For individual medical practitioners, I'm sure there are as many criteria as there are doctors.

Michigan just announced that all residents 16+ will be eligible for the vaccine on April 5th!
I have a feeling a lot of states are going to throw the phases out the window and just open it up. Around here we are having more and more people get vaccines from “no waste“ lists. While the county health dept still has a wait list of 24000 in my county of 470000, you can easily find appointments at Kroger or Walmart for within 2-3 days if you just keep checking.

My husband got an end of day Pfizer vaccine for his 1st dose. He was given a day to come back for his second dose without a time. They wrote it on the back of his vaccination card and he'll bring that with him.

I think you're right, and announcements like Michigan's will hopefully build a fire under elderly folks to get vaccinated.

Unfortunately, some people will just not lift a finger to help themselves. They expect someone to do everything for them, and then complain when they miss out because of their own lack of initiative. Hopefully announcements that their period of preference is ending will cause them to take advantage of that preference.
