Have you every played with tarot cards?

Of course! Some of my very best friends are tarot readers on Jackson Square here in NOLA. I am far from an expert, but I understand the basics. I don't believe it's divination, but more about the energy that the person is putting out in the moment. And good readers are careful to state that the future isn't written, the reading simply shows what is likely to happen if the person continues down the path they're currently on.

I played with them in high school. A good deck will have enough pictorial clues to help you remember the meaning of the cards. I should still have a Spiral Tarot deck somewhere.

People typically misunderstand the usefulness of tarot, I think.

They're not fortunetellers. Can't predict who you'll marry or when, etc. What they can do when read by someone intuitive is provide insight into the questioner's mindset at that point.

Every moment of life presents us with choices. The tarot can only suggest what the questioner's options might be at the time the reading is done.

As with the Ouija, they're nothing to play around with but can be helpful as a means to self-awareness.

I agree. I have a deck but can't make heads or tails of it! I've tried several times but they do nothing for me.

As a Tarot Reader, reading for people everyday I always tell my clients.. NOTHING IS SET IN STONE. You determine the outcome. Energy is fluid. As he said, it all depends on the reader, he or she is the key note player.
