...reacted badly to a medicine?

I was just transferred to an alternative medicine due to "serious" reactions, including convulsions, minor and temporary amnesia, suicidal tendancies, aching limbs and neck, nausea, diziness, disorientation and detachment from reality.

Needless to say I was a little scared.

Has anyone else ever experienced anything of the sort? I'm not really allergic to anything.

I had nothing like what you are describing. That is aweful! I hope the new medicine works.

My kids have, penicillin.

I haven't but my mum had a similar reaction to some tablets saveral years ago. They changed her medication though and she was fine on the new tablets.

sounds like the medicine one of my sons takes........

good luck, hope it goes better for you

Changed. Now I have to withdraw. Currently I can't feel my arms

Oh well!

I haven't but I saw it happen to my Grandmother once. She was delusional and aggressive. It was terrifying.

I hope you get better soon.

How awful!! I've had reactions three times, but none were the nightmare you describe.

One was with contraceptive pills...lost my peripheral vision. Simple solution...flush the pills.

The second was with sulfur drugs, Bactrim tbe, when I broke out in splotchy hives. Again, flush the Bactrim.

The last time was at the dentist's when he was using epinephrin (I think) and my heart began to flutter some and I felt light headed. That one was the worst, both because of the seriousness of the reaction and because it now means I have to use a different, less effective drug during dental procedures that wears off quickly and is much less desirable.

I sincerely hope that your new medication will be the perfect one for you and that you will adjust quickly.

Oh wow. I've had a reaction from penicillin, but only a red, flushed appearance to my skin and itchyness, nothing like you're experiencing! I hope you feel better soon!

Sulphur Drugs

This past January my 21 year old son had a throat infection but no strep. The put him on a sulphur medicine. On day 5 he looked like he had a sunburn. I should have known, cause it was the first week in January and he was in the house all day.

On Sunday he woke up in terrible hives and blisters. He stopped taking the medicine, and the dr was like "just take benedryl every 4 hours. He was dellusional, feverish from the hives. I had to sleep downstairs in a chair while he slept on the coach, so I could wake him up in the middle of the night to give him the benedryl.

I'm just glad he wasn't at his dorm at school and he was home on winter break.

Allergy to sulfa is very very common... I, too, broke out in a rash with taking it, like many others. Docs are not using it much anymore because of it.

But a rash is nothing like what you're experiencing. I hope you get relief soon.

Might I ask what drug it was? Just curous. I seem to be on several myself... never know!
