Years ago, I had a "walking cast" when I broke my foot, so I didn't need crutches to get around. I had the cast for 8 weeks and it drove me nuts (the itching!!!):earseek:

Nope, haven't broken a bone yet (knock on wood)

Broke and dislocated my ankle. yes. I have had a cast a plaster one that could not be taken off or gotten wet. yuk stickie when removed

A couple. I broke my wrist in a motorcycle accident in college. I had a gauntlet cast on my right arm for about 12 weeks. I had to learn to take class notes lefthanded for that semester. I remember how uncomfortable the cast was. I bored a big hole in the palm of the cast so that my hand could breathe.

A few years later, I broke my elbow in a skiing accident. I fell down at the bottom of an icy slope and wrapped myself around a tree. That time I had a fiberglass cast which seemed to be less of a pain than the old fashioned plaster one that I had in college. Since I had surgery to have two pins put in my elbow, that cast didn't have to stay on long.

I guess that I was a bit reckless in my younger days. :earseek:

Yes I have, broke my arm and had a cast all the way up to my shoulder for 10 weeks...well actually it was only all the way up for about 5 weeks but boy was it a pain! It itched and I couldn't get comfortable...uugghh never want to go through that again.

After each knee surgery I had a plastic cast(3x). They went from mid-thigh to ankle. Always on crutches with the casts. Once for about a year I had to wear a splint(mid-thigh to ankle) with no crutches. It was held on with a tensor bandage so it could come off for showers and sleeping. Glad those days are over.

I've had 3 casts, 2 on one arm, and one on another. The first occured when I fell skating, and broke my pinky finger. The second occured when playing basketball. And the third occured during basketball.

I had a cast when I broke my arm about a year ago. I knew it would be itchy, but I didn't realize it would be so stinky. Ick!

Yes, I broke my wrist when I tripped and broke my fall on cement steps, about an hour after I got back from Ocean City, Md. It was about 10 yrs ago and I had a cast on for 7 weeks, all summer, yuck!!!:(

Had a cast when I broke my foot...was in first grade..the cast was a big as my leg. Also had to wear splints for my wrist when I sprained it. The most embarrasing was when I had splints on both index fingers. I broke them getting up from kneeling..lost my balance and fell forward on both my index fingers...my knees went down on them, bent then backwards and snapped them...owww.

On the last ones, the hospital thought my mother was a weirdo since she couldn't stop laughing when she brought me in (well at least til they heard the story..then most of the hospital staff laughed too)...I was a frosh in HS so it wasn't like I was a young kid.

I ruptured the achilles tendon in my left foot. I was in a cast from my toes to my groin. The after that I was in a cast from righht below my knee. At some point I finally graduated to a walking boot.

Yes. :teeth:

I broke a bone in my left arm, so I had a cast up to my elbow. It wrapped around my hand, but I could kind of use my fingers and thumb. At the same time, I had the middle finger and the ring finger of my right hand in splints. AND at the same time, I had a cast on my right leg. It enclosed 3 of my toes and went from my toes all the way up to my groin. When I break bones, I do them all at one time and get it over with. :teeth:

I broke my foot 13 years ago. I had a pretty pink cast the went up to my knee. The biggest inconvienience was that I lived in a third floor apt. at the time and I had just begun to potty train my daughter. she would run to the pottyand I would crawl. It was faster that way :)

7 weeks in a plaster cast, then, then 2 months in a walking cast but I was only allowed weight bearing the last 2 weeks. Got it off 4 weeks ago and I still have considerible discomfort when I walk. Shattered both the tibia and fibula plus I broke the 5th metaursal. It was a miserable experience.
And I a still afraid of stairs.

Nope, thank goodness!!!
