A couple raffles - ironically enough, even though we're not big drinkers, we've somehow ended up winning two raffles for lots and lots of booze, both at charity functions where we just bought one of whatever raffle ticket they were selling.
When my ex-wife and I were still married she won a "Wheelbarrow of Cheer" at a charity event. The booze was easily worth at least $500. When we went to pick up the prize we discovered the wheelbarrow wasn't included, it was just a prop. Damn!!! I needed a new wheelbarrow at the time and was disappointed not to receive it.
Took the $$ and ran. Plus, the stack of bills was almost unmanageable!
45 $100 bills really isn't all that big a package. No bigger than a stack of 45 $1 bills. But smart move leaving quickly with all that cash in hand.
The most I won at a casino was a little over $3000 playing craps. But I was betting too conservatively too long. Soon after I started upping my bets the shooter sevened out. I shoulda coulda woulda won maybe $10,000.
I won a trip to the 1992 NCAA Basketball Finals in Minneapolis. Nosebleed seats to the two semifinal games on Saturday and the final on Monday, hotel, and airfare. Duke won over Michigan in a rout.
The only time I won in the lottery was a $20 scratch off ticket at a gas station while driving through West Virginia over 30 years ago. Hey, it paid for the tank of gas (maybe $1.19 per gallon at the time) and the soda and snacks.
