Have you ever used an air mattress in your WDW hotel room?

There will be 6 of us at the Contemp (one is an infant so it's "legal"). I thought that if I brought an air mattress for one of the kids, it would give us all more sleeping room.

Is using an air mattress allowed? Will there even be room for it, plus the crib, in a regular-sized room at the Contemporary?

Also, any tips on purchasing an air mattress?

TIA.

I'm not sure about the space in the CR room, but we used a twin-sized aero bed on our trip to YC last October for my son who would not fit in the daybed, and did not want to share a bed with his twin sister. They are 17. We kept it inflated the entire time, just took off the sheets, folded them up and stood the bed up in the corner. We had a room with a connecting door in it, so we put it there because we did not use the door. At night he put the bed in between the bed and balcony doors. Mousekeeping gave us extra sheets and there was a blanket already in the room.

Buy an aerobed. The twin size runs about $100 but it is so worth it. Very comfortable and easily inflated and deflated. We just rolled it up and used a small duffle bag. We flew, so we checked it as luggage.

We too have used a Aero bed several times at Disney with no problems. As long as you are not exceeding the allowed number of people for the room. We did bring our own sheets but used the extra blanket in the room and pillow from the bed.
Might be a tight squeese with the crib too...we usually put the Aero in the empty area by the door and store it during the day leaning up against the wall.

WE packed ours in a small suitcase, worked great!

I just went on the aerobed website and it's offering the twin-sized classic aerobed for $49. It seems like a good price. I'm wondering if I should go with the cheaper Coleman air mattresses offered elsewhere.

Just a thought if you are not checking the mattress in as seperate luggage, the one's with the auto inflate are very heavy, we purposely bought one to use a battery powered inflate machine so that the weight was not there, and we can put it in our regular suitcase and not exceed the weight limit comes out to about the same price...target had the twin size on sale for $10 and the pump was also on sale ofr $10. The batteries are not cheap, but we feel better knowing the mattress is protected in our suitcase. Also, we like the mattresses that have the brushed top...the sheets do not slide so much on these.

Don't know how old your children are but I used a child's size ready bed for my DD(6) last year at the Poly. We were a party of 6 with 1 under 3. The ready beds are a sleeping bag and airmatress all in one (well the fleece bag does come off for washing). It easily pumps with a hand pump. We too would just lean it against the wall during the day. I bought mine at Target (I've seen them on Amazon.com and have even seen them at BJ's).

IMO,no. We have used a lot of different brands for camping and they ALWAYS lose air. The one exception is the Aero bed. My DS has had his for quite a few years now and it's been camping, to WDW, to Va., to grandparents, company has used it etc.....and it is still perfect. Get the Aero.

For our trip I brought a full size air bed for the boys to sleep on. They are entirely to rough during the night to sleep with and DH and I just are not comfortable sleeping in the full sized beds together. (We have a king at home.) I packed the air bed and the pump into a small rolling suitcase, checked it at the airport and had no problem. We stayed at ASsports, moved the table and chairs around and placed the bed in the corner next to the tv stand. It did not deflate for the 8 days we were there. :woohoo:
I purchased my at Academy Sports and OUtdoors for use during the hurricanes last summer. You might want to check the prices there. :surfweb:

We've used an Aerobed many times at CSR, CBR, AKL and others. We have 2 boys who have their own rooms at home, so sharing a bed would be :scared1: out of the question... ;)

We've used one at POP and there was room...we just stood it up during the day and no one ever said anything to us.

We used one for my 3 YO son at the Poly and there was plenty of room, even with me sleeping on the daybed/lounge. DH had one bed, my mom had another and then me. Yes, I like my own space. ;) (we did pay for my mom being there) His blow up bed was a little smaller than a twin size as it for for little little kids with the built in sleeping bag and pillow but I'd say there would be room just fine for a regular twin size. ::yes::

We have stayed at CR, CBR, WL and AKL...every time we had two queen (or are they double) beds....between the end of the beds and the t.v. and table and chairs...I cannot imagine trying to put an aerobed. I have TWO aerobeds and we use them allot when traveling but when we stay at Resorts that are suites. Standing it up during the day..fine...but to put it on the floor and then have someone sleep on it and if someone has to get up in the middle of the night... :confused3 ! I think that would be a tight squeeze. :rolleyes2

We used an Aerobed at POR a couple weeks ago, with the trundle and a crib.
We had no problems at all. We had 2 adults, 3 kids and an infant. It worked out good. It was crowded at night, but we moved it first thing in the morning against the wall and all was fine. The kids were so tired they never got up and the adults just worked around it. I love the Aerobeds, I have never had much luck with the colemans. I can not get a reliable airpump for it. I just purchased a new battery powered one, but would still only take my aerobed on a trip. I save the coleman for at home needs.
