Have you ever stayed at the Excalibur in Las Vegas? Rooms are $49 a night on special. Should we stay here? If you've stayed there, any comments - postive and negative would be appreciated. Thanks.

DH and I stayed at Excalibur for our 25th anniversary in 1999. If you don't go expecting a Disney-calibur room, you'll be okay. ;) $49 is a great rate to stay on the Strip but I wouldn't pay much more than that for Excalibur. It's an older resort and the rooms show it but it was fine. The location is great. The south end of the Strip is our favorite area. You can easily walk or take a monorail to a dozen casinos from there.

We have also stayed at Mirage, Monte Carlo and Tropicana (2X) and I wouldn't hesitate to stay at Excalibur again for a good rate such as you got.

Personally, I wouldn't stay there. We walked through it once and walked right out.

You can get great deals at Aladdin, Paris, Flamingo, Bally's, Treasure Island, etc. All of these would be better choices.

DH and I have stayed at the Bellagio, Treasure Island, and the Flamingo. My Dad has stayed at Bellagio, Venetian, Aladdin, Mirage, Treasure Island, Harrah's, and MGM Grand. We liked all of those. :)

I got an email the other day for $59 at Bally's and $69 at Paris. Also, if you join the casino clubs you'll get tons of notices for deals. I have been offered Venetian and Bellagio for $99. Oh, and Harrah's for $49.

Check travelocity under the "deals" section. Also go to the homepage of each resort you like and register for info. Paris sends me email almost every week with deals.

Have a great trip!!!!!!! :)

We have been to Excalibur on several occaisions. In fact we went there when it was brand new. It is a nice hotel. It is a Circus Circus Hotel I think... so there are usually alot of families and kids. I remember that we enjoyed the MidEvil times show with jousting etc. The food was ok too. The best thing I remember about Excalibur is.... Dh and I were really lucky there, winning more than we usually do when we go gambling.

I think 49 bucks is fine... I really can not believe how expensive Vegas has gotten. btw,, did you get the postcard in the mail too?

Good Luck

In comparison to the great rates you can get at premium properties, would advise against any of the Circus Circus hotels. Most of them are pretty run-down. We go to Vegas ever year and have stayed nearly everywhere - exept the Circus Circus brand of hotels. Stay Away! Check the promotion rates at each hotel's website. You'll find some great deals. The Treasure Island usually runs promos at about $49 per night and they recently did a beautiful remodel of the whole hotel. I've seen Paris for as low as $59, too. Shop around. You'll be glad you did.

The outside of Excalibur is really cool. The inside...well to be completely honest we said what a dump. I was really disappointed. We spent $99 for Venetian which was a great rate. Paris is my favorite, but I really like Mirage too. Treasure Island was ok...the rooms are just redone and at least online looked nice.

Excalibur and Circus Circus are owned by Mandalay Resort Group which also owns Mandalay Bay, Monte Carlo and Luxor.

We stayed at Excalibur this spring because of a very low rate and, although it was okay once, I wouldn't do it again. I signed up at several of the upscale hotels web sites and regularly receive e-mails with very good rates. We'll take advantage of one of these for our next trip.

We stayed there last year. The room was a good size, and was cleans and taken care of. Nothing special. We were there for only 52 hours so I can assure you we were not in that room very much. I think ti was fine...and for $49 bucks you can't go wrong. I would love to stay at the fancier hotels, but heck I didn't even pay for that trip it was a freebie.... :) :)

Good luck, where ever you stay Vegas is awesome ;)

rooms is much bigger than the All-Stars....and it has rooms service and restaurants...and inside corridors.

The furniture is old, but everything was spotless when we went.

We stayed at the Excalibur for New Years Eve 2000 - only because it was the cheapest rate on the strip. I called everywhere and most where we wanted to stay, like Treasure Island, Mirage, etc, were $1500 a night with a 3 night minimum!! Can you imagine! But thats a different issue. Anyway, we didn't like the hotel. For that price if you plan to not be there much its ok, but we would never stay there again.

We just got back Saturday, but we stayed at the Flamingo, for the first time. We stopped by the Excalibur...didn't like it...too dark and dreary and A LOT of kids. I would stay more center-strip...the Flamingo was nice, great pool area (but had to get there early to get a chair), Bally's, a lot of people like. They are both in the $49 a night range. We stayed at Treasure Island our first time. We liked it there, too. I would definitely stay at the Flamingo again...the location was great. Have a nice time!:D
