Have you ever seen the girls name Amy, spelt with an IE (AMIE) before?

First time for me this week. I was filling out a form at work and had to do a double-take. It looks like a French spelling to me, but I guess its just another alternative to Amy. :confused3

Its quite pretty, but I prefer the traditional spelling myself.

Amy, Amie, Aimee, Ami

When I was in high school there were girls with all these spellings.

My fourth child's name is Rebekah Aimee. All three of my daughters have Hebrew/French names. Jessica Michlene, Elizabeth Renee princess:

I'm sure I'll offend someone...but I hate weird spelling of names. Like in one of my classes I have a girl names Kym. My cousin named her kid EmmaLeigh (pronounced Emily)--of course their both weird.

To me, there are many names that give kids a bit of a flare or are a bit different without either making up a spelling or naming them something off the wall.

I have, but I spell my DDs Amy. I can't stand to make it any harder for my kids or their teachers than necessary. My other DDs name is Kelly, again no fancy spelling.

Yep, I've seen it, but I've never known anyone with that name (that spelling). I prefer Amy.

I grew up with lots of Aimee names in school. There was even a Kym.

Aimee is French is the past participle of aimer...to love. I like it, but then again, I am French by heritage.

Aimee is the the french spelling, but I've never seen a Amie.

Yes, I would have to say the name "AMY" can be spelled a TON of different ways it was a really popular name when I was in school.

I have...

Amie
( Pure Prarie League )

I can see why you think you belong to me
I never tried to make you think
Or let you see one thing for yourself
But now your off with someone else and I'm alone
You see, I thought that I might keep you for my own

Amie, what you wanna do?
I think I could stay with you
For a while, maybe longer if I do

Don't you think the time is right for us to find
All the things we thought weren't proper could be right in time?
And can you see
Which way we should turn together or alone?
I can never see whats right or what is wrong
(Will it take to long to see?)

Amie, what you wanna do?
I think I could stay with you
For a while, maybe longer if I do

[break]

Well now
Amie what you wanna do?
I think I could stay with you
For a while, maybe longer if I do

Now it's come to what you want, you've had your way
And all the things you thought before just faded into gray
And can you see
That I don't know if it's you or if it's me?
If it's one of us I'm sure we'll both will see
(Won't you look at me and tell me?)
Amie, what you wanna do?
I think I could stay with you
For a while, maybe longer
Longer if I do

Amie, what you wanna do?
I think I could stay with you
For a while, maybe longer if I do

I keep fallin' in and out of love with you
Fallin' in and out of love with you
Don't know what I'm gonna do
I'd keep fallin' in and out of love
With you

Actually, from my 3 years of HS french I learned that "Ami" means friend(masculine) and "Amie" means friend(feminine). And for the record, my name is Ami and even though it was frequently misspelled(which was their problem, not mine) I liked standing out a bit among the sea of Amy's born that year(Carter era). As a matter of fact, two of my best friends were named Amy. I was named after my grandmother whom I loved very much, and her name was Amilee.

Isn't that how Amy Fisher wanted her named spelled and even had it put on her car? I remember it being shown when the whole story broke.

My cousin's daughter is Amielee, and she calls her Amie.

I've heard a few girls with Aimee and Amie. Kind of like my name, it can be spelled so many different ways. Jamie (mine) or Jaime, or Jamey.

When I was young, I always wished my parents had spelled my name Aimee. It just seemed so much more exotic than Amy. ;) I haven't seen the Amie spelling but I like that, too. My dad was a stickler for the simplest spelling of names, though.

I'm tickled to see there are so many Amielee/Amilee's since my name is actually Amy Lee.
