DH job search saga continues. We live about 45 minutes from Chicago, and do like the city a ton., but hate winter MORE than we like the city. Here's the problem. DH career is not very marketable in the southern states...picture heavy automotive manufacturing, Fl just doesn't have it. O.K. So thankfully opportunities have begun to pop, but are still in the midwest. Now we are wondering how much of a sacrafice we would be making for a better job per say, but not a big change in climate/lifestyle. We have learned a ton on paper about MI, IN,OH,KY and OK, and as wonderful as each state is in it's own ways, it's still not Florida. Do you think that you regret a move if it's not REALLY what you're after? Just curious.

Your question was "have you ever relocated & then returned home?"

Yes. I moved to CA in 1985 & lived there for 10 wonderful years. It was like a paradise. I met my DH there & although we lived in CA, we got married in MI, where my family is located. After having problems with his side of the family, we decided to move to MI where we could have peace in our marriage....& also be able to buy a house (which is near to impossible in Southern CA). So we moved here in 1995 & have a wonderfully happy marriage in a wonderful large home! No regrets, had lots of fun & new experiences living in CA but it was time to come back 'home' (so to speak!) :)

yep. we moved from s. jersey to Chicago and stayed there for around 2 yrs. Loved the city, but missed our family and friends and the coastal lifestyle. We moved back and dh took a pay cut to do it. But housing costs are less here too. It doesn't really balance out but it's not big a difference. In the 5yrs that we've been back dh has been laid off twice though. And that probably would not have happened if we had stayed in Chicago.
