Have you ever played Bunco?

I am hosting a Bunco party later this month but have never played. Someone suggested everyone bring a gift to swap - is that part of the game or just typically part of a Bunco party?

Also - We have one game set and it says it'll play up to 12 people. I know I need tables of 4, so I just need to get enough games to cover everyone coming, right?

What other things should I have on hand? How long does the game typically take? Can you eat/drink while playing?

Bunco is played differently all over. Some groups do wipeouts, some grab buncos, some only roll 6s, others start at 1 and move up each round.

I know of other groups who bring gifts, but we play for money. Everybody brings $5 and who ever has the most buncos, most wins, most losses, etc. wins money. We eat food ahead of time and dessert after. I would ask the people who normally play what they usually do.

You will need 3 dice per table and score cards/pens per person. I know this is not much help, but you will have a blast!

I'm playing tomorrow. We do a potluck and it's $5. The $5 buys the "prizes" like most wins, most losses, 50/50, most Buncos,etc.

It takes probably 3 hrs or so? You'll need 3 tables and 12 chairs, and we often use coffee tables and throw pillows (since not many people have 12 chairs!)

We eat and socialize before we start, then in the middle we do dessert. During Bunco there is no messing around LOL.

I play once a month with a bunch of cute little old ladies from my ex-MIL's church (including my ex-MIL). We pay in $10 to play, and have cash prizes. We do $40 for most buncos, $30 for most wins, $20 for 2nd most, $10 for 3rd, $15 for last bunco, and $5 ****y prize (most losses). You can only win one prize, so you get the highest you are eligible for. For example, if you have the last bunco and the most buncos, you win the $40 for most buncos, and the "last" bunco prize goes to the person who had it before you. We have a fuzzy dice that came with our set to keep track of who has the latest bunco. It usually takes us 2-2 1/2 hours to play.

We rotate through the group to host bunco night, and the hostess provides snacks. We play four rounds, with snacks after the second round. We usually have something to munch on at the tables while we play, like pretzels, nuts, etc., but nothing that needs a plate or might get messy.

If your set says it plays twelve, it should have nine dice---three for each table. You'll probably want to make copies of your score sheets, or do as we did and have someone set up blanks in Word or Excel so you can print them out as needed. When you set up your group you will probably want to find at least two alternates who are willing to sub if someone else is sick or out of town.

food and drink is key. you must have enough alcohol to loosen up everybodys lips, so they can trash their husbands and men in general. you will need to talk about your sex life also. hope this helps. my wife has a blast at bunco night.

The men in my town refer it as "Bunco Booty". Our wives go out for a night of fun...have a little too much wine, talk about their sex lives, don't actually play the game and then come home for a little......well.

I play 3 Fridays a month (different groups) - got home at 1:15 last night! We play $10 a person, most wins gets $70, most bunco's gets $40 (that was me last night), and biggest loser gts $10. The hostest provides food (pick food, maybe some stuffed bread), plus snacks on eat table. Soda, beer, wine, maybe some sangria or harder stuff, depending upon the host. We play 2 sessions, take about a 20 minute break to eat some more (usually don't start playing until about 45 minutes after we arrive).

We don't do prizes, although we all do a white elephant swap at Christmas. It gets very silly!

I havent played bunco, but I have been invited to play Bunco for Breast Cancer in a few weeks.

Im a little lost...anyplace I can go to get a little lesson?

We play once a month, pay $11 each - we pay out, but part of the $ is rolled over for a big year end payout for each category for year end. The extra $1 is a "perfect attendance" award - sometimes it's hard to get everyone to come every month!

The hostess makes a meal - can be anything from a full dinner, to trays from Chik Fil A, etc. - sometimes there is alcohol, sometimes not. Our "can't forget" is candy on each table!

We play Monday night, it's costume optional, and our hostess is doing a halloween theme. We also had a "breakfast bunco" once, served mimosas and other breakfast foods.

In our small town, there is one bunco group which has gained a real reputation - - skinny dipping, always waaay too much to drink, etc. Sometimes they don't even get around to playing! I subbed in their group a couple of times, and it got a little crazy, but I got out of there before the real "fun" started!

We have a neighborhood bunco group. Third Tuesday of the month. $6.25 buy-in, hostess makes dinner and drinks before we play, dessert after we play. We do a gift trade each month, hostess picks the theme. This month we are donating cans of food for a Thanksgiving food drive. No need to take lessons, you pick it up in no time and half the women cheat, anyway...



Oh, candy and nuts at every table.
