My family really likes these and since they're so quick to make I thought someone might want to try them. Hope you like them if you do!

QUICK ROLLS

2 cups self-rising flour
1 cup milk (*NOTE -- Be sure to use whole milk only)
4 tablespoons mayonnaise
1 tablespoon sugar

Preheat oven to 450 degrees. In a large bowl, stir together all ingredients to form a soft dough. Spoon into a well-greased 12-cup muffin pan, distributing evenly. Bake for 10 to 12 minutes, until golden brown.

well, what happens if you don't use whole milk?

Ok I have to admit it sounds kind of nasty, but I'm up for anything and it sure looks simple!

Looks so easy. I've had biscuits with mayo in them before and they were so moist and yummy.

I'd have to lie to dh and ds.... they are totally anti-mayonnaise. HEHEHEHE..... I gotta do it. :rotfl:

I honestly don't know. The recipe said whole milk and I never question authority! :teeth:

It is simple and my DH loves them...of course, he puts mayo on anything edbile! I think this may be like that recipe for chocolate cake that uses mayo. Sounds yucky but it tastes great to me!

These are very moist, too, and everyone I've ever served them to said they were yummy. Hope they weren't just being polite! :earseek:

These sound great! Just in time for ds's "Old People" birthday party. :earboy2: You know the one after the crazy kids party where just the family members come.

I had always wanted to try the choc. cake with mayo, but never got around to it. Last time I was at Macaroni Grill I found out that their chocolate ganache cake is made with mayo. It's one of very few chocolate cakes that I just die over!!!

I'm going to guess that it has something to do with the extra "fat" in the milk...there isn't any oil or butter in the recipe :confused3

Is "self-rising" flour just regular old flour?...or does it have a little something special in it that we can't get here in Canada?

(And the Tag Fairy perks right up after a line like that! :teeth: )

Sounds delish, though, Foxfire, have to give those a try:)..with my regular old flour;)

I think you're right about the whole milk adding the "fat" to this recipe. They probably wouldn't taste as rich if you don't use whole milk.

Self-rising flour is different than regular old flour. Self-rising flour is an all-purpose flour with baking powder and salt added. The rolls won't rise much, if any, with plain flour. You will have flat rolls instead of puffy ones. I wouldn't want one of our Canadian DISers to have flat rolls so here's a way to make self rising out of plain flour. :sunny:

Q. How do you make your own self-rising flour?

A. Use 1 Tablespoon baking powder and 1/2 teaspoon salt per 2 cups of all purpose flour

No to burst anyones bubble about there being no added oil in this recipe. Mayonaise is nothing but Oil and Egg Yolks. So all this recipe does is combine the eggs and oil and beating them really well.

You are absolutely right...the mayo does add the fat. I just wasn't thinking when I made that other reply. I plead brain doping from having so much Nyquil and cough medicine in my system! :teeth:
