Have you ever left your children on there own at the parks and gone elsewhere!!!

This is obviously meant with regards to older children, our boys will be 15 & 11 and the eldest is very responsible (way beyond his years!!!) and we would leave them with a mobile phone each and strict instructions they must stay together at all times, do you think this is acceptable!!!
We would only be going as far as the 'Grand Floridian' for afternoon tea, (although the boys did this this year, they are not interested in going again and DH and I would love an hour or two on our own) - would you do this or drag the children.
DH says that they are old enough once they travel to school on their own (an hours journey and 2 buses) but I am not convinced. HELP!!!

I don't have children old enough to let them loose yet, i think once they are that age with the things you have said they would be quite safe.

At the end of the day only you know your children and if they are responsible i don't see a problem with it.If they have a mobile phone they can still contact you if they need to.

Do it and have a lovely couple of hours.

I think WDW is one of the few places where I would feel OK about my DDs going off on their own (mine are 17 and 12).

At the end of the day, you know you own kids and how mature and responsible they are. It is sometimes difficult to 'let go' - especailly for mums

We've all read a lot about your family and I'm sure that most here will agree that if any kid can be left to be responsible its yours, I'm sure you'll have no woriies at all especially if they have mobiles on them. My son although 10 is fortunate to have the sensible gene and he would be more than capable, he frequently goes to the pool etc onhis own on holiday and as long as he's got a working watch and knows where and when to come back he's fine. I really wouldn't worry about it, trust them and I'm sure they'll be fine

I think they'll be fine. WDW is a very safe place and in the unlikely event anything were to happen you and DH are only a phonecall away and there are plenty of other people including CMs around to help =] I can understand you feeling apprehensive though, I think it's natural for any parent.

We intend to allow our DDs of 16 and 15 'go it alone' with a mobile in their possession in IOA as neither my DW or myself are keen on rollercoasters. We will find alternative things to do in US whilst they are enjoying themselves -and probably more so without the parents in tow!

I'd definately let my teenagers go off alone provided they stayed together & could contact us if needed. In fact DH & I were discussing this last night as we try to plan a holiday for next year. I was hoping they may go off alone & DH says don't bank on it!

I see no problem at all with your plans.
