I have a dentist's appt. for my daughter on Monday - but wanted to ask....
Is it possible for someone to have 3 front teeth grow in?? I swear this is happening to my DD!!!! She lost her 2 front teeth within the past couple weeks - and there are THREE teeth growing in - its quite odd looking and I cannot wait to see her xrays! Maybe the tooth beside the front tooth is coming in early (behind the baby tooth) and is just over towards the middle?? It looks prety freaky! LOL

My daughter had whats called a "supranumerical" tooth (I think thats what they called it) It was actually growing in the middle of her 2 front teeth. It was found on xray befor it started growing. The dentist said that it could have damaged the roots of the 2 front teeth and they would have died. She had to have it removed by an oral surgeon. It was actually a huge tooth, she called it a dinosaur tooth. If its the same thing as my DD, it will have to be pulled.

I dunno, but thats intresting. I would love to hear what the doc says!

Best of Luck with it!! :)

Get a picture of it :)

My sister has two extra teeth. They didn't cause any problems, except for her wisdom teeth which most everyone has problems with anyway. She has her two front teeth, the the flat ones next to those and then instead of pointy teeth next she has two more flat teeth and then her pointy teeth.

This is news to me!

I not only heard of it, my DS had it, but like nancy679 said DS's was caught before hand and was pulled. We found out because DS's two front (top) baby teeth that were perfectly straight started to get crooked so the dentist order a pan xray and sure enough DS had three adult teeth where the two front teeth were supposed to be. The extra tooth was trying to press down in the middle of the two front teeth thereby causing them to go crooked. DS had his two top front baby teeth and the extra adult tooth pulled back in May and the extra adult tooth was quite large. We were told the reason they had to pull all three was to give the permanent adult teeth that were still in the gums the opportunity to come down unobstructed. The dentist also said that since DS got his first tooth late (11 months) and the fact that none of his bottom baby teeth are loose that it will be a long time before the other teeth come down, could be more than a year. He also said that it is possible he will be without his bottom two before the top two come in and if that is the case, he will be missing 4 front teeth, can't imagine what that will be like!

Good luck at the dentist, but if it is an extra tooth I am afraid they will be pulling some teeth. Let us know how you make out.

I had 6 of them myself. 2 came in correctly and the other two were the supernumerical teeth. They had to be removed by an oral surgeon. They found them on the x-rays when they were checking out my wisdom teeth.
