Just wondering if you ever had your meal comped at WDW?

We did once-at the 50's PTC a kid at the table next to us threw up everywhere & a little on my DF's shoes!:scared:  Our waitress immediately changed our seats & comped our meals-even encouraged us to order a dessert on the house!

Once at Wolfgang Puck's. Not the express, the restaurant. There was a piece of a rubber glove in my food. It was gross since I had actually chewed it which is how it was discovered. My only gripe was they comped my meal, which I was too grossed out to eat, but not the rest of my party. Oh well.....

The only time we had a meal comped was when I went to eat my chicken at the Rainforest Cafe at AK and it looked okay on the outside but it was raw in the middle. YUCK! The manager came out and apologized and then they even comped our table a desert. :santa:

We had a waiter spill an entire tray full of milk shakes on my dd at Sci-Fi and all we got were bags of cracker jacks for the kids, we did not ask for anything more, but you would think they would have done better

My mother once found part of a chicken bone in her chicken and leek pie at the Rose & Crown. They comped her meal and gave her a free dessert.

This past September, we got our two meals at Pecos Bills free. We had ordered and the girl working the register screwed up something and only one meal would come up and not the second on the dining plan. It was because she was entering a child's meal (can you say too much oxygen between her ears???? :rotfl2: ). Anyway, the manager said for our inconvenience, he put the one credit back on and didn't charge us for either meal. So we ended up with two extra counter service meals.

We did last August at LeCellier (BTW was very hard to swing a priority seating but we finally got one) - It was a bad rain storm and the power went out while we were waiting for our table. They could not fix the gas line in the kitchen. They closed the restuarant to new arrivals but seated those who had been waiting for a long time.
They finally seated us but told us the menu was limited- no filet mignon, hardly anything that had to be cooked to order was available. They could only offer us what was pre-cooked such as prime rib, cold selections, hot dogs and pasta. We agreed to stay because we had waited so long and it was pouring out but expressed out extreme dissapointment as we were looking forward to this meal for months.
- At the end of the meal they did not charge us anything- we left a tip of course! That was a great thing they did- not sure if other customers were comped as well.

We were comped at the Sci-Fi Drive-in. My order was wrong not once but twice. The manager came out and apologized because most of the party was done eating before I even got my food! We got free desserts that night too. :)

My family (DW, DS and DD) had a meal comp'ed on our first DVC stay at OKW in the summer of 1995 because when we got to our room a second time it was still not cleaned. :( I was wondering what I had bought into.

They offered us dinner for four at Olivia's while they cleaned the room. That helped to calm me down. It was a very good meal, although we really had planned to go to the parks right away.

Fortunately, we have never had similar problems with DVC since then (and no more comp'ed meals either). ;)

Once there was a fly in my salad at Liberty Tree and that was of course comped, another time while checking in at the Poly we were comped for dinner as the key to the our room didn't work so they changed rooms and and then the second room they gave us was unmade.

On the trip we just returned from I got free churros because the woman couldn't log in to her cash register does that count? To be fair they weren't free they were paid for by Mickey Mouse lol :woohoo:

We once had a horrible waiter at Hollywood Brown Derby. Slow, rude, never came back for drink refills. We were on the old food plan and even after all he did (well didn't do for us) he told us that we could still tip him for the meal. Yeah well he didn't get a tip. But unfortunatley for us we never complained. We were at Artist Point a few days later, we started with one waiter but then another took over. We asked if it was because we were on the food plan. She told us no, but asked why we would say that. Well we told her what happened to us at Brown Derby and she was so upset she told her manager. She then talked to us for a while and asked if we would mind if she called the manager at Brown Derby to tell him about it. We said no, that would be fine. Well the manager at Artist Point then asked if there was something she could do for us, and with little thought, we said yeah reservations at Cinderella's Castle. We got back to our room the next night and there was an invitation address to my DD from Cinderella asking us to join her for breakfast on our last day there. We did have to pay for it, but there was also a voice message from the manager from Brown Derby asking us to meet with him. Well we did explained what happened and he gave us his business card and employee number and put on the card that we were welcome to come back and dinner for the 4 of us on the house. He also told us that if you ever have a problem at a restaurant at Disney to talk to someone, never let it go. We used the dinner the next year and they didnt say anything just took the card and that was that. I have found that it is much easier to tell a manager then live with it. It also happened to us at Ohana's and we did get one meal taken off.

Actually your story just reminded me we did have 1 comped meal kind of.

Me and my best friend went to Yachtsman Steakhouse and had the worst service in the world. Our waiter was rude and completely ignored us most of the time. I ordered a glass of wine and our appetisers arrived and there was no sign of it at all. When I asked about it he said it was on its way. It arrived at the same time as my main with no explination about why it had taken so long. I even saw the waiter texting on his phone when we were trying to get refils on our glasses of water. We were going to complain on the day but then our waiter noticed my cast ID in my wallet (we weren't planning on using our staff discount just because of the fact we were going to complain). From that moment on our waiter became nice and attentive (at least with the bill) and had the cheek of pointing out he hadn't added automatic grat so we could choose how much to tip. Anyway we let it go and decided to just let it go.

Meanwhile 2 weeks later (which was actually after I had finished my Disney contract) me my mum & dad were booked in for my dads birthday. We were staying at the Beach Club conceirge and they had booked this for me. I decided that there was no way I wanted to go back so contacted them and cancelled the reservation, explaining why I didn't want us to go back there and even pointing out I was a CM. When we checked into the hotel however we had a message off the manager at the Yachtsman asking us to head down to the restuarant for a meal on them.

I must say we had a fantastic meal and it was wonderful! We definately had an off day with the server but our comped meal has meant weve gone back about 4 or 5 times since that!

Sort of.

They took DS's meal off of our bill at Yachtsman Steakhouse several years ago because his chicken was so tough I couldn't cut it with my steak knife. They offered to fix him something else, but he just took a couple bites of my steak and he was happy.

Le Cellier served him raw salmon, but we just asked them to cook it more thoroughly and that was that.

About 8 years ago we had a meal comped at Artist's Point. The salmon my DW ordered was way overcooked. We sent I back but by the time it came out the meal was too out of sync. I am generally not one to complain and would probably just not go back to AP. Well, when I went to the restroom the manager showed up and asked how the meal was and got an earful from DW. He offered a return visit meal for two but when we explained it was our last night and we didn’t know when our next visit to WDW would be he comped the whole meal, bottle of wine and all….over $200. Since that inciden’t AP has turned out to be one of our favorite dining spots. We always eat there once or twice per vacation.

We had our family breakfast at 'Ohana comped because I had complained about the service (lack of) to a manager the previous evening at 'Ohana. Our server was really rude to us plus my son and I had finished eating before the server brought any meat to DH. She was waiting on just two tables and spent her time chatting with the other table. We were told even the tip would be comped to our breakfast server but we still left her tip in case it wasn't.

Once at 'Ohana when our room at the Poly was not ready until after 5PM since they cleaned the carpet and didn't bother to just assign us another room. Next one was at Cape May when our YC room we were assigned was not clean (bed mussed, wet washcloth in the bathroom, used, unflushed toilet). It seemed to take an act of Congress to get them to understand that the room was that way when we went in, not that we wanted it remade, we wanted it cleaned (evidently it had been used for something ;) ;) while it was marked as unoccupied if you get my drift). They finally understood that it needed to be cleaned and covered our dinner for that night. I have found that if you are polite things will generally be taken care of by them.

A few years ago at Mama Melrose. DW ordered something that sounded good, and after a few bites, just didn't care for it. I also tried it and didn't like it. We decided just to share my meal, and were prepared to pay for our full bill. When our waiter came with the check, he asked if there was something wrong with DW's food. She told him she was sure it was fine, just not what she expected--no fault of the restaurant. He took the price of the entree off our bill, and asked if we wanted to split a complimentary dessert! We declined, and he obviously got an above average tip.

We've had meals comped twice!

One time we were eating at Chef Mickey's and a bird flew in and nose dived into our table, hitting DH in the head. The bird was wounded and just laid there until someone got a napkin and took it back in the kitchen. The manager was out in no time and comped our whole meal -even our drinks!

THe second time was breakfast at PSB. For some reason the girl was having trouble with our DDP. From the time we tried to pay the bill until the manager came over was about 45 minutes. DH stayed really calm and the manager was so thankful that he wasn't ranting and raving that they credited the meal and didn't use any of our DDP credits.

We got a yucky meal comped at the Pepper Market. Cold icky food and magical disappering auto-gratuity waiter.

We tried it again and it was still underwhelming, so we've stopped going there.
