An iphone.
Disney could care less and told us there was nothing they could do. They asked housecleaning and they didn't have the phone.
So....
I used findmyphone app to track it down then I used google maps to give me and address.
Got the address and searched the counties appraisal district for the owner of the address.
Got her name.
Ran her through facebook and what a coincidence, she worked for Disney in housekeeping.
I then contact the police and the officer when and chatted with the lady. He then left and called me and I described her to him (from photos on FB) and described her perfectly. He made sure I was going to press charges then went back up to the door and at that time she gave it up.. claimed she was turning it in on her next shift.
PD shipped the phone to me. They were awesome.. Disney Co. sucked.
Good detective work!! Did you let Disney know? I wouldn't have known how to do all that, but I do now
Yes, quite a few years ago we had all our bags stolen at Typhoon Lagoon (clothes, cameras, etc.).
I've heard about a lot of thefts at the water parks, especially taking Disney towels. We just use the pool towels, and don't have anything in our beach bag but sunscreen and a book, and beach cover up. If we have a change of clothes we rent a locker. Ugh. Used to take a camera with us, great photo ops around the water parks, if we do now, we just take pics walking into park and then that goes in locker too.
This is how it was in my case as well. The only place I had used my cc was over the phone when I ordered the cake and it wasn't the card I attached to my room either.
Good thing you took name down. I should do that, I ordered a cake a couple of years ago. Thankfully no problem.
We always lock up everything in the safe. Wallet, passports, IPad, cash. But mistakes do happen. One day I forgot to lock safe before leaving and was horrified to see it open when we came back. Thankfully nothing was missing.
I have always gotten gift cards when we arrive to pay for everything. One for food, & one for suvies. This minimalizes the amount of times you use your credit card there. So only once or maybe twice at resort gift shop to load it and that's it. Using your MB I guess would accomplish the same thing, except I like to see my running balance, and using GCs doesn't involve a trip to resort desk
Never put purse on chair back anymore either after hearing how easy it is to take off with it.
We've had some good experiences at WDW . Once my daughter left her bracelet in the washroom at Narcoosees. She didn't realize it untill we were back in our room at CBR. I got Narcoossee's phone # and they looked in bathroom, nothing, so they transferred me to GF desk who took down our info, resort, etc. The next night we walked into our room and there was a packet on the bed with the bracelet.
Another visit my other daughter lost her purse on Space Mtn, fell out of car. It was our last day, and it was late afternoon. Had her wallet, cell phone & Rx glasses in it

we spoke with Space CM, who took down info, and leaving park we did a report with Guest Services. 2 weeks later we recieved her purse by mail with everything in it.
Thankfully we've never had issues, prob thanks to these posts that keep you on guard. To be honest I never knew credit card # theft was so prevalent, and to be sure I'll take down info now when I give out my # for anything.
So thanks everyone for posting your experiences, so we all can learn from them.
