I was wondering. Have you ever comne back from WDW and wished you had a "Do-Over"?

We (DW, DS(7), DS(5)) went sept 29-Oct 6 and stayed at ASMU and had free dining and it seemed like everything went wrong!

We missed our connecting flight in Dallas and got in 4 hours late. We subsequently missed our ressies at Coral Reef for dinner. Our room at ASMU was at the farthest point from everyhting (Country Faire -- 3rd floor , far corner). Our cards didn't work 3 days in a row, so we had to keep going back to the resort to get it fixed. Due to dining card not working, we couldn't use them at Epcot F&WF and ended up wasting 15 snack credits. Had a hoprrible dinner at Ohana-- waited 90 minutes after ressie, very late (9:30) horrible service, etc.

Wife and kids all melted down one night and I insisted we all go back and go to bed early.

I feel like on the whole it was a bust and I want to do-over!!!

That being said, we had a great time at AK, MNSSHP and had other meals that were great...

Earliest we can go again will be Jan 2008.... :guilty:

Wow. That's horrible. I hope that doesn't happen to me this December. Good luck on the next trip.

totally with you on that one. DH and i were just a bit to stressed out on this trip. We were just not expecting how much extra work the two year old was going to be. easier than when she was 15 mo, but having to kid swap on just about every ride ate up so much time and started stressing us out.

Also, the free dining thing threw us off. the trip started becoming a mission to get the most out of "what we paid for". use those credits, make those ressies, who cares if your not hungry yet, we have ressies to stick to and credits to use up.....too much for us.

We had at least one big melt down and a few tense moments on this trip and i came back feeling like i wanted a do over.

if i had one i wouldn't have changed the time of year, but i would have changed the resorts (never again at ASSp for us) and camped at FW and nixed the free dining. We felt like we were a slave to the food. if we ever do go again and take the free dining, we will not focus so much on spending the almighty credits.

Our recent one day trip to Disneyland didn't have as many things go wrong as your trip, but it was still bad enough that you have my sympathy. My boyfriend isn't a big Disney park fan, so every time we go and stuff goes wrong, I feel like it's another strike against Disney, and he'll be that much more reluctant to go next time!

I keep persevering, though. We're headed to WDW for my birthday in February! :)

YES!!!

I just returned, this year we took a group 6 (4 had never visited, it's usually just me and my husband.) It was like taking a group of 3 years olds. My parents didn't get the Dinning Plan so I spent the whole time trying to explain what they can select. Plus they just wanted to set on a bench. One time I left them on a bench so me and my husband could do some rides. I got a call that they're lost and don't know where they're at! Then the other two wanted to sleep in late and stay out late but didn't want to use the bus system. Let's just say that I didn't feel the magic at all!!

That's kind of what happened to us on our last trip. I had an agenda of what to do and where to be ... rides, attractions, meals, all planned out on a list for each day there. First day at MK we were there at rope-drop, ready to get in as much as we could before the crowds arrived. Well our son had a stomach issue and had to use the restroom, for a loooong time, not once but three different times. All the while people were pouring in and lines were forming everywhere, while all we could do was wait ... and wait. Next day at Epcot we went on Soarin' first thing, and my husband got queasy riding it, and we had to find a place and sit til he felt better ... which again took a loooong time. At AK we went to the last Lion King Show of the day, but arrived just a couple minutes too late to enter. And so on and so on. We went during a busy week, and due to the lines were only able to get done a portion of what we intended. We also didn't care for our very noisy room at POFQ. When we got back home I told my husband we were going on another trip next year, to make up for what we didn't get to see this year. So we're booked at AKL January 1 - 7 (another busy week), and looking forward to it!

I'm sorry that you had a bad time. Yes, I wished for a "Do-Over" on my August, 2005 trip. We brought my then 7-year old niece along with us. She is 6 months older than my DD. The two girls fought like cats and dogs and my DD was a total SNOT. It was very stressful for me and it was the first time that I wanted to go home early.

OH I FEEL YOU ON THIS ONE! :guilty:

Several trips ago, we were staying at DL (POR now) and the first day there i was fine, then I GOT SOOOOOO SICK. We went to the MK first thing that morning and I told hubby I didnt feel good. So we hopped a bus back to the resort and AS SOON AS I GOT OFF THE BUS, I threw up all in the bushes by the bus stop in front of everybody! Then the unthinkable happened, DIARREHA hit AT THE SAME TIME if you know what I mean, AND EVERYONE SAW!!!!!! I was so sick that I didnt care at the time, but I was absolutley mortified when I got better and realized what exactly had happened. My poor hubby and I were in our room for 2 days at the most magical place on earth, and I was throwing up, going to the "bathroom" every 5 minutes! I couldnt get keep down, jello, juice, or even water. Hubby was so sweet the whole time, he would go to the food court and get him lunch and dinner, and me anything that I could try and eat. He layed in the next bed and just watched tv. never left my side. For 2 days I layed up in the bed of our 4 day trip. :sad2:

The next day I was better and mustered up the energy to go to some parks. Slowly I went and I took it easy. Guess I had some kind of nasty virus.

But that is DEFINATLEY a DO-OVER TRIP!

Oh YES! This last trip (We were there the same time as you were!) Blew my knee out within 12 hours of our arrival and anded up in a ECV for the whole week. It made me miserable and my wife even more so. We had two choices, stay or go home. We stayed and made the best of it.

Look on the bright side. If you ate at least 4 table service meals, you got your monies worth. (Well we did anyway)

Start working on that do-over NOW!

Ugh! Us too!

We took DMIL with us in 2001 to "help" with the kids. :rotfl: The kids were great, it was DMIL "are we there yet?", "can we eat yet?", "I have to go to the bathroom." "Are we going back to the hotel soon?" "Do we have to get up early?"

It was doomed from the start! We missed our connecting flight in Toronto, which put us behind. They hurried us through to get another flight via Atlanta (stopover). As they were rushing us, they forgot to get my new boarding pass stamped with "Child on lap", so Customs/Immigration wouldn't let us through. Because of the switched flights, our bags didn't make it through with us (including car seats). So, another wait at the airline office for missing baggage. We had Emerald Aisle reserved from National, but had to stop in the long line at the desk because we needed to borrow carseats. We new our carseats would be coming, so we had to figure out what to do with the rentals (no room for 4 carseats!). We had ressies for Chef Mickey's at 6:00 (we should have arrived at 11:30am). Instead we didn't even get into Orlando until 6:30pm.! Our bags arrived at the hotel after midnight, and they were still missing one. Then, at Epcot (France pavillion), DMIL was looking around aimlessly while pushing the stroller and tripped DD! Face first into the cobblestones, ended up spending time at first aid at Epcot in case of concussion! Daughter had a HUGE goose egg on her head for all of her pics! :guilty:

Thankfully, we've already had one GREAT do-over. Now we're on to the next! Needless to say, DMIL will no longer be invited on WDW holidays! ;)

I felt that way after our 2004 trip. I was too much of a drill sergeant with my family, trying to really push things so we'd "get our money's worth". Our 2nd to last day, we all ended up violently ill. I got hit the hardest, and stayed at the hotel to sleep when DH took the kids to Fantasmic our last night. I couldn't wait for that trip to end!

Our 2006 trip couldn't have been more different! We took a far more relaxed approach to things, and had a blast. Nobody got sick, and my 2 yo was now a 4 yo, so no more diapers!

Oh no! That sounds horrible.

I have another post that I just wrote about how on 11/3 my daughter had a meltdown at Epcot around noon so I left with her. I wish I could go back and just do that day over. I'd rent a stroller and strap her in it and then this way we wouldn't have the "I can't walk anymore but I'm not getting in a stroller if you rent one" attitude.

I wanted a do over when we brought our 21 month old too. The resort (Villa's at the Disney Instutiute(sp?) was horrible(Pleasure Island's partying kept me up til 3:00 AM), My daughter hated every ride, The child swap took
forever, etc etc.

However, the next 3 times were magical. Even though we ended up having another 2 year old with us(DD baby sister). We had to rethink the trips to make it about them, not us. And as soon as they were tall enough, we brought them onto the thrill rides and they loved them. They are 6&8 now so its really fun, but we can't do commando anymore and take the parks at a slower pace. (And its not the kids slowing us down anymore, It me! LOL)

Oh man, this is one of my worst nightmares! Luckily for us (DBF and I), we are usually able to steer clear of huge disasters- knock on wood EVERYONE reading this! :goodvibes

I think we stand a better chance of having a "non-bust" trip due to the fact that we have no kids to tote around, no other interested parties lurking about us, are not on the dining plan (which would probbaly turn me into the commando I truly am, but keep hidden away), and we go in the off season. All that being said, there is always the chance, so I will of course be holding my breath (ok not literally) until we check in, AND have working room/park hopper cards. I'll let you all know how it goes, as I plan on attempting my first TR when we get back

Aw I'm sorry to hear things didn't go as you hoped. That is my biggest fear I've been planning for 2yrs for our trip in 14 days and I am so scared things won't go as hoped.

My honeymoon was a do-over trip. I had a UTI that I got three weeks before my wedding and never quite shook it off. I spent most of that vacation either in pain or in the bathroom and I was totally exhausted. Plus, it was horrendously hot, even for early June, like 95-100 hot and humid every single day.

I am terrified that this trip is going to be a bad one because I have never taken kids to Disney before. I am really trying hard to be flexible and as prepared as I can and I'll just hope for the best!

Wow! Some of these stories are terrible. :sad2:

Makes me think that our first trip with the kids in '05 that was interrupted by Hurricane Jeanne wasn't so bad.

What a good reason to plan another trip. Of course, I would be worried that things would go wrong again!

Oh My Goodness.... Yes.... My last trip was a DISASTER.... It was a big lesson in choose your traveling companions carefully.... We took a big group in October of 2004 of 9 people... My parents went with us and they had a blast but I think that is only because they are deaf and could not hear what was going on....LOL..... The other group that went was my best friend her :furious: NOT SO DARLING HUSBAND :furious: and her 2 kids.... Her husband :furious: was cussing the whole time, complaining about how much money he was losing by not being at home to work and complaining about how Disney was really giving to them by taking all their money.... He did not want to do anything but go to the flea markets in Orlando because he wasn't giving Disney ANY MORE OF HIS MONEY...... When we got home and dropped them off at their house my husband and I just looked at each other and said...."Did we really just get back from Disney World because it felt like we had been to hell and back".......To make matters worse it was my DD princess: 1st Trip to Disney.... Thank goodness she was only 3 and does not remember the bad parts....I think that is why I am SOOOOOOO looking forward to the trip in LESS THAN 2 WEEKS..... We are taking another big group but we chose this one VERY carefully...LOL

I have to say this one takes the cake. I hope you can look back on this now with humour, cause I definatley did! :thumbsup2

DGF and I had a trip with a friend that just did not feel the disney magic. We ended up staying at POP in order to save some loot. It turned out to be the worst mistake ever. We will never stay at a value resort again.

I wouldn't necessarily want a whole-trip do-over but there are definitely some moments I wish I could have prevented- The big one was that I had made the whole trip out to be a huge deal in my head, and that DBF would be totally converted to being a huge disney fan, and when he didn't quite have the over-the-top-phenomenally-perfect time I'd hoped, I ended up crying in the middle of the park because he didn't understand why we had to follow my plan for the "perfect" last day. Not my best moment, and I wish I'd calmed down about the whole trip and just enjoyed!
