No, I have not but I work with a guy that can nod off at the drop of a hat. He actually snores in meetings:rotfl: Its hysterical

I have, every day around 3, I make sure I get a cup of coffee, and move around,, then it goes away

Not me but someone I used to work with. One minute he was fine the next minute his head on the desk passed out. I wa really concerned and asked a coworker if we should tell somebody in case there's something wrong. My coworker said he's fine so we went on break. When I came back he was gone. Someone told me later that he suffers from narcolepsy.

Yes, but in my defense I was sick. It was the dead of winter. less then 10% of the hotel was sold and I put my head down on the desk for min.

That min turned into an hour or more when my boss came in to wake me up and make sure I was OK. lol

Oh, wow...used to attend Wednesday meetings after lunch in a hot, sunny south-facing conference room. Never fell asleep, but I'd have to bite the inside of my cheek to stay awake! :lmao:

Guilty.

I was pregnant. I was nearing the end of it all (left work one day, went to the hospital, and delivered!) and I was just tired! I mastered sleeping while holding my head up to make it look like I'm reading in high school - so I used my talent. Took a 30 minute or so cat nap.

Sorry, not sorry.

Yes, but I was on my break. I slept through the alarm though and was about 10 minutes late for a meeting. They were just about to send someone to find me.

I was working the overnight shift and it was 430 when I fell asleep.

I was at a conference last year and there were a lot of people in the room, very warm. There was a presentation that wasn't very interesting and I felt like I couldn't get enough air. Where I was sitting I couldn't easily get up and walk out for air. I couldn't help but start nodding off. Wouldn't you know my new boss, who I had just met for the first time saw me. She asked me later if I was feeling OK. By that time I was better so I said I was fine. Then she said she noticed me nodding off! Ugh....

Not unless you count a nap in the car during lunch. I don't fall asleep easily, even if really tired. I have to get comfy.

Not a fair question. The primary group of people I work with come in at either 11 pm or 3 am. People nod off, just comes with working those hours. And yes, a lot of folks nap in their cars on their meal break, but I'm not counting that.

I did once, working a midnight shift without much sleep the day before. It just over took me so hard I could no longer resist and thought I would put my head down and "rest my eyes for just a sec". Got woken up by my boss who called me into the office and was not very happy with me. I wish one of my co-workers would have woken me up!

Yep once, and with permission too. I was a police officer and had worked two 8 hour shifts back to back (4 PM to 8 AM) I had 8 hours I was supposed to be off until my next shift at 4 PM, but during that 8 hours off I had to testify in court. So, I only got about 3 hours sleep before role call for another 16 hour shift (we were short handed due to vacations and officers out injured). My sergeant told me to go into the office after midnight and take a nap with my head on a desk and he told dispatch to wake me up in 2 hours or if I had a call to answer. Well 2 AM comes and the dispatcher comes in and wakes me up. My neck was killing me and I had drooled onto the desk pad. When I sat up the drool made the desk pad stick to my face. The dispatcher lost it. :rotfl2:

:rotfl: What a word picture you just painted !

You didn't happen to be a LEO in a little village on Long Island back in the late 1990's were you ? One of my first dispatch jobs and I could have written this same accounting from the dispatch POV ..I used to feel so badly when this happened court appearances after those kind of shifts.

To answer the question I did once, I always worked dispatch 3rd shift, the hours were never a problem for me.
I am a true night owl. One of the LEOs found me asleep at the desk and I was burning up. So sick, never forget it I had pneumonia and wasn't even feeling sick when the shift started.

LOL, no way! I teach 4-5 year olds. Constantly *on*, managing my active little charges. No rest time, no down time. On my breaks, I'm running myself ragged trying to get everything done.

However, as soon as I get home, if I do sit down, I will fall asleep immediately.

During my first trimester, I didn't get morning sickness. Instead I was utterly exhausted all the time. Probably once a week I would nod off for 10-15 minutes. To be fair, I rarely take a lunch. I usually eat at my desk while working, so I didn't feel one bit guilty.

Sometimes on nights if we get a quiet period between calls. I'm an EMT and its very busy during the nights now

I have nodded off at my desk a few times, yes...but caught myself as my head was bobbing to crash onto the desk.

The only time I fell asleep at work was when I was sick, as well. I had taken an antihistamine at lunch, and my boss called me into his office for dictation. The office was south-facing, already warm, and he tended to drone when he dictated. I didn't know I had fallen asleep until I realized the words he was saying made absolutely no sense following the last words I had heard. He must have noticed my puzzlement, because he asked if I was OK, and did I need a break? He offered to let me go home if I was not well. Unfortunately, I carpooled with DH, and he couldn't go early. I found several walking-around errands to do until quitting time.

In my career, it is expect of the young ones and those just starting out to pull all-nighters. I used to do this with glee, knowing I was winning all sorts of things: double-time, friendships, career contacts...

Then I hit my late twenties. My last all-nighter found me dead asleep on the bay couch. It was time to pass the sword to the new kids.

Currently, my boss DOES fall asleep in meetings. It is hysterical and we try to find seating such that we are across a conference room table at an angle to compete for best snoozing and nodding off videos of him.

The Fire Department EMT's here are all based at fire stations and go to bed between calls at night, working 24 on.

The private ambulance EMT's are all staged at facilities here with beds too.

Didn't know any EMT companies actually didn't provide beds for overnight shift workers anymore.
