Have you ever done a school trip to Europe?

I went to Moscow and Leningrad when I was 15 as part of a school group (though not MY school). My parents were very trusting of the teacher taking us and I'm glad they were. We had a blast and met a ton of Russians and learned alot about their way of life. Alot of kids, though, really didn't do much more than party which was a shame. There were chaperones....not enough, though.

I thought it was a great experience. I had spread my wings, learned about a whole other culture and got the travel bug big time.

It was a priceless experience.

My sister went to France and Italy as a chaperone for one of her DD's trips. She loved it!! Go for it, Mare and have a great time planning!!!

My mom went with me the summer after I graduated HS....8 students, 1 teacher, and my mom...It was a great time, we went to Madrid and Toledo, and Paris. It was great. DO IT!! The main thing is to be prepared for the alcohol. I don't drink, didn't then, don't now, but all of the other students did. My mom was able to look over it...but you need to prepare yourself. It will happen, unless you guys put some crazy restrictions on them...Just don't join in like the teacher with us did! I had to send home two Irishmen one night that she'd brought to the hotel..."they just need to use the bathroom" Yes I was 17, and yes I was bossy. I sent 'em packin.

Everybody stayed in control for the most part, and they just wanted to exercise their newfound freedom. It's not that any of them were bad kids or anything, but that's what they wanted to do.

Anyway, I cannot recommend Toledo and Madrid highly enough. Make sure everybody has on sleeves (short or long, doesn't matter, just nothing sleeveless, including the boys) for the churches in Toledo. They won't let you inside in sleeveless shirts.
