Have you ever checked in late for your ADR and were turned away (or seated)?

I booked us 2 hours after we land for LeCellier and I'm nervous about being late. Of course there is nothing else available for that day. What do you think will happen if we are 30-60 mins late?

You're cutting it pretty close. Technically, they could turn you away if you were more than 15-20 minutes late. They probably wouldn't, but you might end up having to wait a lot longer for a table to open up. They'll probably seat people who are on time for their (later) reservations before you.

You are cutting it WAY too close. Assuming everything lands on time...you won't even be dropped off to your resort until about an hour (or more) if using ME.

Then, you must still check-in (can be a long process) and get your ID cards, your luggage, travel, etc. Even if you want to go eat before going to your room, you'll still have to travel to the restaurant and walk through Epcot.

Typically I'd leave my hotel about 2 hours before my ADR (maybe a bit less) but 2 hours after you land??? WAY too close IMHO.

I'd bet you're going to be at LEAST an hour late...and that's if you RUN through every process stated above. Do you really want to start your vacation on the run?

I would cancel and re-book. No offense, but making an ADR and planning on being an hour late is just taking a viable ADR from someone else.

Hope you enjoy your trip!

I agree that 2 hours (or even 3 hours) is cutting it too close. The last few trips, we have tried that, and the entire 3 hours was VERY STRESSFUL! This year, we are eating at POP and letting the kids swim, going to HDDR to use the extra TS credit (not on the first day), and are going to RELAX on our first day! I'm hoping this will set the tone for a very relaxing 14 day stay (our longest ever!!!).

I think that is cutting it close. Maybe keep calling every day to see if you can get a later time or different night?

We were 15 minutes late to our Ohana ressie due to a long monorail line and a monorail that just stopped on the track for a little bit. I was frantic! I tried calling the podium but it just rang and rang. We raced in and it was fine. Got our beeper and were seated within 5 minutes. But 30-60 minutes late is a lot longer. I am not sure what they would do, I think if you were that late they would cancel your ADR.

We landed in December at 3pmish and had a ressie at Chef Mickey at 5:30. We did make it but we hustled. We were picked up by a Sunray, got to Pop and fortunately had no line to check in, dropped our bags, changed real quick and grabbed an MK bus. If we had run into any delays we would have been in trouble.

In December, LeCellier and Mama Melroses were both turning away people 15 minutes late.

Last time we were at LeCelliar, we saw them turn away 2 different parties for being late. We always 'wing it' on our first evening of arrival to WDW. With the 'wonderful' airline service we receive nowadays, happy to make it there within a reasonable time AND have all our luugage with us (much less get a pillow and/or food!)!!

Late for a meal. Hmmm.... now that would be a new experience. Nosirreebob, ain't never done that before. Nope.

We were 25 minutes late for our Lilo and Stitch character breakfast at 'Ohana last year. We had just missed a MK bus from BWI/BWV and had to wait quite a bit for another one. In that time, 3, yes 3, AK buses came by. Now if that had been the morning we were doing Donald's breakfast that never would have happened. We still would have been okay time-wise but then something happened to the monorail we were on and we sat for about 15-20 minutes. They still seated us right away though, so it was fine. I did apologize for being late and explained the monorail thing.

A few years ago we were an hour late to our dinner at the Portabello Yacht Club in DTD. It was around 8:45 PM when we arrived-we had a laundry fiasco at the BC. The dryers kept shuting off, nothing was dry...that's why I now refuse to ever do laundry while staying at a hotel. ;) Anyway, they took us right away but, it was late. I don't know what would have happened if our ADR was around 5-6 PM.

FWIW, we would have never made it to an ADR 2 hours after our flight landed anytime we have ever gone to Disney and we use a limo service, not ME or a car rental. The driver is standing there holding a sign with our name on it and a luggage cart, and we still would never have made it. I think it's cutting it really close. Especially if you have to check in to get your park passes. Which of course you would need to get into Epcot. I would just have back-up plan in case they refuse to take you.

The staff at Le Cellier is nuts. We've been turned away even though we showed up early for our reservation! They had overbooked and weren't honoring all of their reservations. I don't think it's worth all the hype, anyway; we've eaten there twice, and it was fine, but not with getting "overbooked" at.

Cheers!

IF you're staying at an EPCOT resort and IF you already have your tickets and IF you have your heart said on Le Cellier AND IF you can't get another ADR during your trip give it a shot.

The average time from landing to arrival at your resort is around 70 minutes. IF you have the option of bypassing a long check in line and walking directly to EPCOT you have a shot of making it.

I'd rather have a more relaxing first night at WDW. I'd rather check in and drop my carry on bags in my room before to dinner.

edited to add Le Cellier is booked and overbooked every night Most days walk ups aren't accomodated. I wouldn't count on being served if you're very late.

Another restaurant maybe, but with the demand for Le Cellier I doubt they would take you in if you were late. Especially seeing they are so busy they don't except walk ins.

To save time at the resort, you could wait and check in later. Just ask them to hold your luggage for you.

I would try it but we rent a car and get there on our own time.

We were about 45 minutes late in May 2006 for our dinner ADRs at Boma (we were on a DVC tour took a loooong time).

When we got to Boma, we had a little wait but it was no problem with them getting us a table.

**And we did end up buying into DVC!!

We were late for breakfast at CP about 15 min plus my mom and dd went to the castle instead of CP so we had to wait for them to figure out they went to the wrong place , but they did take us and it was about 45 minutes later. This was during Christmas week too. I guess if that is the only day and time you can get , try it maybe you will get lucky.

We were 20 minutes late for Donalds breakfast (the bus!) and the CM sat us right away

I think you're cutting it really close, but if I were you, I'd still try to make it to Le Cellier in time.

Last Sept., our plane arrived at 2pm and we were able to get our luggage, pick up our car, check in at AKL (no line at check-in counter), look at the animals while waitiong for our luggage to come up to our room, drive to the Ticket and Transportation Center, catch the monorail, and be IN the Magic Kingdom by 4:15pm. Please keep in mind that we were a party of 2 adults who were VERY anxious to get to the parks.

I think it CAN be done, but hopefully you're able to get a later ADR. Good luck :)

Last year during free dining, we had ADRs for every night. On one night, I looked at the wrong day on my list - I thought that I was supposed to be somewhere (I forget where) at like 5:30 and we were in our room nicely getting ready. Then, I realized that I had made a mistake and we were supposed to be at Concourse at 4:40 or so. We ran out of the room and got there as fast as we could - we were pretty late. Given how hard it was to get a table, I figured we were done for. But they took us right away and seated us. By the time we got there it was pretty late - I'd say we were 45 minutes late. That was really nice of them to take us. It was an honest mistake and we were lucky.

Funny, we saw the exact same thing at both of these restaurants May '05, Sept 05, and Sept 06. Looks like they don't give any leeway at any time of the year.

I was late for an ADR once- back in 2002. We parked at Boardwalk and thought we could around to Yachtsmen Steak house in plenty of time for dinner by taking the boat across (my mom uses a cane to walk) but a boat never came. We wanted to be parked at Boardwalk because that's where we were catching our pontoon boat for the Illumiations cruise so we'd end up there at the end of the evening.

I ended up having to drive from Boardwalk over to the restaurant and we were going to be about 20 minutes late. I called ahead to tell them the boat wasn't coming and we were driving, so we had no problem getting seated when we got there. I was more frantic than necessary, the restaurant was very nice about it. I just hate being late for anything.

I'd never try an ADR IN Epcot only 2 hours after landing at the airport. I'd be a nervous wreck and that would not be a relaxing start to my vacation.
