i was just wondering if this has happened to anyone else! last summer i blacked out on the hollywood rip ride rockit at universal. actually, i think i technically "greyed out" but it was so scary i still always say i blacked out (plus when i say grey out people are always like, what the heck is that?!).

anyways, i was thinking about it last night because i was looking at my pictures from the trip. it is something i will never forget. just wondering if anyone else has blacked out or greyed out on a ride, at disney or elsewhere?! or if you've had another kind of scary experience?!

I black out on Ellen's Energy Adventure almost every time.

None of the rides at Disney do it to me. Six flags and Hershey are another story. My husband gave me a tip and it has worked. I clench and release my feet leg muscles while riding and I don't get that sensation as much on the rides that usually do it.

I'm not familiar with that ride, but there is a local coaster that has a corkscrew and it makes me light headed. One of my friends can't ride coasters because of his blood pressure, he is healthy as a horse, but will black out on coasters. For some reason, they cause a significant drop in his BP.

I'm not saying this is the same thing happening but... I was on a ride at a local small park with my neice and she had a small seizure. I'm a nurse and kept pretty calm and just held her. It was a fast ride that went upside down. When we got off she told me she thought she blacked out on the ride. She went for an EEG and it showed she did have a seizure disorder. It could also just be a vagal reaction, which is nothing to worry about. I just wanted to share that experience in case it could be relavent at all.

Kings dominion, I forget what the Mega coaster is called but coming around the one turn. The pressure! I just remember saying I can't see! I can't see lol

Intimidator 305... I know many people who blacked out on it before they slowed it down, I think, they did something to keep people from blacking out.

Never at disney. At our Six Flags (Great Adventure) I almost black out on the Superman ride every time!

I haven't had that experience. If I did, you would not find me on that ride again. And I might go get myself checked out to see what's going on.

i did tell my doctor and a nurse i know about it. it happens more often than you'd think. it is actually a healthy/normal reaction because blood is going to more important organs in your body and it just messes with your sight! but i definitely will not be riding it again - i didn't like universal anyways, so no need to return lol!

Rip Ride Rocket is the only one that ever gets me. I tend to see spots right after the first drop when you are going up to the top of the "loop." You don't go upside down, but it twists you right at the top and then right back as you go down again. I am pretty sure, for me, it's because it's right after the vertical lift hill. It make me a little lightheaded going from leaning back all the way, to cresting the hill and suddenly going down and then into that loop thing. I've never had a problem on any other coaster.

this is actually pretty common it happens a lot to fighter pilots they teach them how to keep it from happening but in this case things that would help we be making sure you get enough sleep and stay hydrated... either way its not that dangrous its just a little scary

i've never had a problem on any other roller coaster either, and i've ridden lots of big ones. i didn't even know that was something people experienced on coasters, but i guess it is! i was like WHAT is going on here?! but yes, i agree with you, i definitely think it's caused by the vertical lift hill and then going right into the loop, because it happened right in the loop. i think it's because you are tilted back at first and then whipped around and it must be something to do with your blood flow just going crazy!

About 15 years ago we went to Carowinds in North/South Carolina. There was a stand up coaster that I blacked out on. Haven't been on another stand up coaster since.

I blacked out on dueling dragons in IOA a few years back during the intense corkscrews. It was very scary and I haven't been on since. I don't do well with intense spinning in the first place. Only coaster to ever do that to me though.

Agreed!

Glad it's not something for you to worry about!

oh my gosh, i went on that last summer and by the time i got off my neck was sooo sore. after i rode it i decided to skip the hulk, even though some of my friends went on it. i used to LOVE big roller coasters and now i think i am over them. i must be getting old, lol. i am much more into BTMRR and space mountain these days :)
