Yes, unfortunately I was a beacon for crazy when I was younger. First guy I met when I was 14, I called him my boyfriend but all we did was hang out at the mall before my curfew of 5pm rolled around. He would call and scare the crud out of me until I moved here to PA at 26... very unstable person. The second was some guy who would call my house looking for me, I think it was a teacher's husband or something because he bothered other girls in school and one was so traumatized her family brought in the police... we were at an all girls high school. The third was my HS boyfriend who was abusive and went off the deep end after we broke up over him cheating. THAT was the scariest of all, he was absolutely unhinged. These guys made it a point to tell me how they loved my engagement pictures in the paper and I heard my old HS BF had it on his refrigerator at home... he also showed up at my wedding Oh and I can't forget the loon who would call me and tell me what color towel I was using when I came out of the shower. To this day my blinds are ALWAYS closed down tight at night throughout the house.

These lovely folks are the reason my identity is kept extremely close, I have no photos of me on-line ever, have unlisted telephone numbers, won't join any sort of alumni program, have ADT and STILL carry canisters of tear gas.

Not me, but about 12 years ago our local area had a stalker "incident". A woman was being stalked by an ex and told a male friend. This friend told her he'd keep an eye on her when he could. She also told a county deputy sheriff who lived in her nieghborhood. The deputy on his own time was sitting in his personal vehicle on her street. Her friend also decided to stake out her home and saw this guy just sitting in his car nearby. So her friend gets out of his car with a baseball bat, runs up to the deputy's car and slams the roof with the bat, The deputy tries to get out of his car and gets hit on one arm with the bat. The deputy thens draws and shoots at the girls friend, shooting one of the friends thumbs off. I was on the local ambulance at the time so we took in the deputy with a broken arm and the other fellow for the gunshot wound (two ambulances) I never did hear who the stalker was.

I don't know if it counts as stalking, but an internet date gone bad caused a lot of hassle at least.

I went on a date w/somebody from the 'net... it didn't go that well. However, he kept bugging me to go out again. Thankfully he didn't know where I lived. He lived in a town about 30 minutes away. At the end of the first date he mentioned going out again, I was like, "we'll see" and kind of left it at that. So he calls and I was like, I don't think I can do anything. Next time he calls and asks me out, I was like, I just don't think I can, I have other plans. Then he just started calling all the time. So I got to where I wouldnt even answer when I saw it was his number. However, he called at least 25X a day (because that's all my caller ID would hold). I unhooked my answering maching because I was sick of messages from him. I ended up paying to get my number changed so I wouldn't have to hear from him again.

Sadly, a couple years later...in Walmart of all places I was just walking around the store, and ran face to face with him. I did the only thing I knew to do, take off the other direction and get away ASAP.
