The only people that have sung to me is my kids. Well, my mom's church sings Happy Birthday if I'm ever there on a Sunday near my birthday.:teeth: But I've never had a man serenade me.

nope,

oh yeah, I have. sorta. My freshman year in highschool. This foreign exchange student from Chili walked the same way I did off the bus and he went right passed my house.
He was a total pain.

He would sing I love Laurie all the way home, over and over and over again at the top of his lungs. Now, the family he was staying with and my family were friends, so I had to be nice to him, but he went too far.

I did not like him at all.

Now, a real serenade, no.

My beagle has been seranading me all day, LOL.

We had an injured racoon in the yard and my doggie was pretty excited.

We did get the racoon back in the field behind us.

But no, no real singers in our family to seranade anyone.

herc.

I grew up in Philly (Irish in an Italian neighborhood) and witnessed a serenade. Sometimes in Italian families the groom hires a band of some sort the night before the wedding and the band plays outside the bride's house. This one was a string band....you know like the Mummers... It turned into a brief (20-30 minutes?) party with everyone coming out of their houses and dancing! I understand this is more commonly done in South Philly??

Freshman year in college I lived next door to some brothers from the local KDR fraternity chapter. On my birthday, they had the pledge class come to my dorm room and sing happy birthday to me. I knew most of the guys in the pledge class and it was really sweet.

Yeah. Some guy at the Meatloaf concert. And he spilled beer all over my Birkenstocks.

My name is Carol Lynn and back when Jim and I were close, he would soemtimes sing "Sweet Caroline" by Neil Diamond, but would say "Sweet Carol Lynn" instead.

I did have a guy come whistle at my bedroom window around 2:00am one morning(we both had just gotten home and he saw my light on). Does that count?:teeth:

No singing here but I had a guyfriend who would play the piano all the time for me. I loved this!!!:D

Yes, this is a very common thing the night before the wedding or something like that. Its very common to have the block roped off, and a the serenade being a very big deal... Usually drinks are served, sometimes a band with the serenade.

As for me sometimes DH will sing. He has a great range, and stays on key.

Yep.

At a benefit concert held at the Hard Rock Cafe in D.C. (Steve Smith) and the Nakeds hoisted me up on the bar and sang a love song to me. I could have curled up and died....

My DH sings to me all the time, he has a beautiful baritone voice. But, there was one particular time when he serenaded me at my office (we both work in the same facility).

It was my birthday (and our anniversary is the next day) and he and a friend of ours (another singer) showed up at my office with a dozen roses. Just outside my door they both sang "My Girl" in perfect harmony. Everyone came out of their offices to see what the heck was going on. I was so touched that sat at my desk and cried like a baby. All of the ladies in other offices were cooing and oohing. It was wonderful.

7th grade, Billy Y, under my bedroom window. He sang I honestly love you by Olivia Newton John. Be still my heart. ;)

I come from a family that sings a lot so I've been sung to all my life by my mom and now my dh does it occasionally. My mom has sung a billion songs to me but the most frequent one is probably "You Must Have Been a Beautiful Baby" and dh likes to sing "Unchained Melody". Oh, and being able to carry a tune isn't a requirement, lol. My dh can't get the tune right on difficult songs but it doesn't stop him and I like it anyway. :)

At my wedding reception, all of the ushers, groomsmen, and our male friends, serendeded me with "You've lost that loving feeling". Don't ask my why. I thought it was hilarious!

I had never heard of this tradition before until I married into an Italian family! And yes, we are from Philly/Suburban Philadelphia!

Thankfully, I talked my DH out of it, but I witnessed my SIL's serenading, as well as what my BIL did for his bride to be. Afterwards there's party at the bride-to-be's house with lots of great italian food and desserts!

Lots of fun!

I've had 2 men sing to me... one sang Elvis and the other I cant remember...

One time in 4th grade we were away at camp and the boys cabin came over and sang "you've lost that loving feeling" to the girls cabin.... LOL
