Have you ever been refused service for not ordering a complete meal? Say you only want an appetizer and dessert or you want to share an entree with someone else. Could Disney say No? I know this is not acceptable at a buffet but I was thinking else where?

I've never been refused service for that. If you split a meal some restaurants may charge a small fee, but they won't turn you away.

I don't know specific restaurants, you'd have to ask at each one you are wanting to share at. It will be small if any.

I quite often have an appetiser to start and another appetiser for my main and have never had any isses

Why would anyone turn away money? The only thing that would come to mind is like a Mexican restaurant and you only get chips, salsa and water. Though I have seen on a couple of menus at some local places a chips and salsa fee, lol.

I know people who will go to restaurants just for a dessert and they've never had a problem. Really I think the only reason they would deny you service is if you were causing some kind of major disturbance and they had to call the police on you quite honestly.

. . . nope
. . . LOTS of folks, including us, frequently do appys or dessert and coffee

Say you only want an appetizer and dessert or you want to share an entrée with someone else.
. . . no problem
. . . eat what you want and share what you want

Could Disney say No?

. . . correct thinking
. . . ANYWHERE ELSE is fine
. . . only at buffets, shows, or AYCTE eateries can't you share or order small
. . . and, of course, V&A

What places charge the share fee?

The only place at Disney World that I've ever seen that charged a split meal plate fee was Shula's and I don't even know if they do that anymore. Really, it's a non-issue at Disney World.

No Disney restaurant will refuse to serve you-----especially after you have been seated. They wont know what your intentions are until you are seated and place your order. The only time restaurants get annoyed is when you have a cup of coffee or just an app or dessert and hog the table for hours. No restaurant will charge you a fee because you didn't order a full entree. :thumbsup2

No, and it won't happen. The Disney restaurants do not care in the least what you order. You can even go to a buffet and eat next to nothing...although with a buffet, if you are at the table you'll be charged for it. You still don't have to eat anything more than a slice of bread if that is what you want.

DW and I were once refused Tea at "Nine Dragons", because our server didnt think we ordered enough !! We had eaten a late lunch, so went to dinner @
"ND", but just ordered a bunch of appetizers---

Would never go back again !

Nine Dragons is not a Disney operated restaurant.

Any resistance to sharing or ordering less, plus shared plate fees, will come from non-Disney restaurants and may not be consistent all the time.

A number of years ago my brother and his family and I wanted to go to Maya Grill for desert and coffee. When we asked the hostess if we could order just desert and coffee we were told no. So we went elsewhere.

When we were making reservations for our trip I called and made a reservation for Coral Reef b/c we just wanted to check it out. I said we would only be ordering dessert while there and the person who took the reservation said that wouldn't be a problem. It's just like any other restaurant. You can't be refused service anywhere are far as I know. I've never even heard of that before. I am Canadian though so maybe that's something that happens down there? Either way, I think you'll be fine if you don't want to order a meal. Enjoy your trip!

Echo ... echo ... echo ...

Seriously, my daughter NEVER orders a full entree and we've eaten almost everywhere in the parks and resorts. No problems, ever. I think I recall paying a plate fee one time when she split an entree, but it would have been a small fee. She typically orders a salad and then an app for her main course. Small child, this one ... even as an adult.

Outside the world a lot of restaurants charge something around $5-10 for a plate fee if you're splitting entrees. Nobody I've ever encountered cares if you split apps or dessert.

We have gone to 50s prime time just for dessert and never had an issue. Doing it again at our upcoming trip. We love their PB&J shake.
:)
