A few years ago we were staying at Ft Wilderness and our then 11 year old son was playing on one of the swing sets in one of the loops and hurt himself. The slide has a cover at the top and as he started to go down the slide an exposed bolt caught him in the head. As you can imagine with a head wound there was a lot of blood. We rushed him to one of the comfort stations to clean him up and a CM was there cleaning and immediately called a supervisor. Rita showed up in no time and suggested she call an ambulance just to be safe. The ambulance arrived and they suggested they take him to the hospital and get some xrays and stiches. Only 2 could go in the ambulance so Rita offered to take the rest of us to the hospital if we wanted to go. We passed so just Mom went with DS to the hospital. When they were finished at the hospital they called Rita and she sent someone to pick them up and bring them back to the campsite. Nothing too serious, about 4 stitches I think. Disney took care of all the bills.
Of course he had to go for a follow-up a couple of weeks later back at home. We sent that bill to Disney and they took care of it as well.
While it was a very unfortunate accident the professionalism, care, respect, and attitude of every CM we encountered was exemplary and we were very impressed.
Two things stand out about that trip. One, it was DS's first trip to the World, first ambulance ride, and first stitches. Second, when we first went to the comfort station to get him cleaned up and he saw himself in the mirror with blood all over the place he started freaking out. But Mom was there ready with comforting words when she told him "Don't worry honey, it's worse than it looks". Obviously she was a little freaked out too.
