Have you ever been a mascot or had a job where you had to dress up as a character?

My very first job was as Chuck E. Cheese. The costume was very hot. I loved the job until a boyscout troop came and and tried to beat the living tar out of me. Nice boyscouts-huh!!!

... but they called it costume at WDW.

I'm sure many of you have been to the UK pavillion in Epcot (!!) and seen the 'merchanteers' there in the shops.... that's what I wore for six months and you have to wear tights (pantyhose?) so it gets *incredibly* hot - esp. when you aren't used to the temperature anyway!!

Long, yellow stripy skirt and puffy sleeved white blouse, plus a cummerbund (?) in yellow that laced up.

I didn't really mind tho and would take every opportunity to wear Pooh/Piglet/Tigger or my favourite, Eeyore ears as well! (I used to have a lot of fun bouncing round the Toy solider with all the kids when I was 'tigger'!

Cya,
Gaspode

not me, but my sister has done characters for holiday parites -- like Minnie Mouse, Lamb Chop, etc.

Yep, wore a bear costume. Hotter than H*** and I do not want to talk about the rest of it.

I was Santa Bear at Dayton's (now Marshall Fields) during the first couple of Holiday Season's. I did that on day's off from working on the selling floor.
I tell ya THAT costume was VERY hot. There was a fan in 'his' rear area and it broke once...it was horrible!!!

A couple of years ago at our school for the book fair I was Clifford the Big Red Dog and another year Franklin the turtle from children's books. It was a lot of fun but very hot. You can act crazy when no one knows who is in the suit.

Let's see. Mickey, Minnie, Baby Mickey, Baby Minnie, Donald Duck, Pound Puppy, Bert, Ernie, Fairy Godmother. Used to do children's entertainment and clown around. I am Shorty the Clown.

I used to work at this place and we had a big promotional fair...and i had to dress up at Blue from Blue's Clues. It was ok but most of the little kids were scared.

Yes! I used to play Grimace in our city's (not charlottesville this is when i was a teenager) big parade. I did it three years in a row. Can you imagine wearing a carpet in June in South Florida??

I'm with Gaspode -- EPCOT stands for Experimental Polyester Costumes Of Torture, dontcha know?
Actually, I was a lucky one -- I got a bathing suit and I got to keep it overnight and wash it myself. And I didn't have to wear the polyester shorts or t-shirt unless I wanted to. So I don't really consider it a costume.

DS19 worked at CEC for a year. He worked kitchen, but got to be Chuck E a couple of times. He even came to the elementary fair, the kidos loved him.

Dh used to work at Sears way back in the 70's and he dressed up like Pooh several times. I dressed up like a Smurf one time when I worked at Gayfers but it wasn't a have to thing. It was just a one time childrens fair we did and we did homemade costumes. I did get alot of stares at the traffic lights that day with all that blue makeup on my face!!!

I was Sylvester (Lookey Tunes) at the Warner Bros. store. This one didn't have the fan inside and it got so HOT I started having asthma attacks and almost passed out on several occasions. Other than that it was fun!!

My fiance and I, to get through college, are working at Fazolis, which is a fast food Italian place. Well, Tuesdays are kid's nights, and my fiance used to be the Pasta Pirate. His costume consisted of a pair of my purple crushed velvet pajama pants, a shirt Whitegloves sewed for him, a purple women's vest, a floppy hat, and black biker boots. He would sing and tell stories....best workout ever, he said.

Not me, but my daughter. She works in the accounting office at Wal-Mart and is head of the promotion committee. For Easter she dressed up as the Easter Bunny. It was fun having my picture taken with her, and watching all the little kids smile and pet her "fur." She had a basket filled with candy that she passed out to the kids. She wore the costume for 2 hours, then someone else took over. She said it was very hot.

I was "le Mutt" back in 1983. I worked for a retail store in NJ called Haines or Hahnes (I can't even remember now). le Mutt was the big new thing back then. Man it was hot and some of the parents were so rude.
