Hi DISers,

I am thinking about trying to get a late-evening ADR at Rose & Crown in Epcot in the hopes of sitting outside to watch Illuminations. A few questions:

- If you have a late ADR (like 8 or 8:30), is it really rare to sit outisde? Can you note that on your reservation?

- And the more important question. I like the lunch menu at Rose & Crown, but the dinner menu, ehh. It's okay. Well, desserts and appetizers look good :upsidedow . What have you ordered at R&C at dinner time? Was it yummy?

Thanks! :)

No, you cannot request outside seating. You can ask at the podium. However, if there is no table available and you tell them you will wait, they will tell you that you must take the next available table. They will not let you wait for an outside table.

I've always had the fish and chips at dinner. DH has had the Tamarind-glazed Pork Loin and the Bangers and Mashed--and he has thoroughly enjoyed both of them.

Our ADR was 8pm - and we were seated on the porch. We did not ask for this. They don't want you to request the porch and will not honor it. I think they may have even told me on the phone when I made the ADR that you can't request special seating!

Having said that - the porch was not all it's cracked up to be. From where we were sitting, the awning obstructed quite a bit of Illuminations.

However, right before Illuminations, our server offered to hold dessert and show us where the "viewing area" is so we could leave our table to go enjoy Illuminations - then we could return to our table and have dessert. Sounds like this is a common thing they'll offer you.

Our party ordered the steak & fish, fish & chips and bangers & mash. The steaks were tough, the bangers & mash were good (but DH wished he had more) - the fish & chips (and fish that came with the steak) were awesome!

For dessert - we had the whiskey cake and sticky toffee pudding. The whiskey cake was a very tasty chocolate cake - it was very good, but I didn't taste any whiskey to it. It was just chocolate cake to me. The sticky toffee pudding was very good - and unlike anything else I've ever had. I would recommend that for a dessert!

We went for dinner 3 years ago. We asked to sit outside. I even had the same exact name as the hostest's best friend back in Ireland, no help. Here's the thing. It was a hot, muggy summer night. We were much better off inside. Just as the fireworks were about to start I sent the family out to get a spot for viewing. Our server came over to me told me she would hold the table. We came back after the show cooled off and had desert. The girls still talk about it all the time. Oh and the fish and chips are the best this side of the Atlantic.

Well, it seems like getting an outside table at Rose & Crown is just a luck of the draw. So I'm leaning towards just eating somewhere that the menu appeals to me a bit more and watching Illuminations outside.

Thanks :)
