How is the drive from the St. Augustine Airport to Orlando? I hear it's 2 hours-- is it all freeway?? Is it worth it? Skybus flies into St. Augustine, and it's SO much cheaper than even SW-

We're staying offsite, so we'll be renting a car anyway. Is it worth taking advantage of the super low Skybus prices (as long as we book at 3:00am :rotfl: ) and driving the 2 hours???

It's a little over two hours, you'll get onto I-95 and drive south until you hit I-4, then you'll get on I-4 and follow it to WDW. It's an easy drive unless you hit Orlando at rush hour, in that case you're better off pulling off and having dinner, and waiting for it to settle down a bit.

I think two hours might be a tad high for that drive. St. Augustine is about 30 minutes on I-95 north of Daytona, and Disney is probably just over an hour to Daytona. At least thats how long it seems the few times I've made this drive. This is all of course depending on traffic also. The drive is all interstate, however, as you'll hop on 95 south to 4 west till you get to Disney.

Also, I tried to look up the time to the airport on Mapquest, and they didnt even have an airport listed for St. Augustine??

You didnt make clear your arrival into St Aug.

Microsoft Streets and Trips says 2:06. I feel that is in the ballpark. I will advise if you hit Orlando from 7AM to 9AM you could add an hour or more to your drive.

If so, a stop for a good breakfast would definitely be more fun, while the conjestion clears. It's usually gone by 9, 9:30.

Yeah, I was going by the mapquest time. We don't have our tickets yet, as we're going in 2009, so I don't know what time we'll be landing or driving back. We're going to try to aim for arriving on a Saturday, and leaving on Friday. I think that the Skybus times from Columbus are morning to St. Augustine, and late evening returning to Columbus, so rush hour hopefully won't be an issue. If it is, we'll use your suggestion to pull off to eat- heavens knows that DH will be hungry!!

Well, arrival on a SAT shouldnt be an issue, but departing on a Friday could. You want to be thru Orlando going towards Daytona by 4:30 at the latest. That means LEAVE Disney at 3:30 at the latest. TRUST ME on this one...LOL

On a side note, St Augustine is a really neat City, worth a day of exploration, a lot of history there. You might want to look into that as well since you are there.

Have a great trip!!

We drove it in two hours on Dec. 1 which was a Saturday. Traffic was fairly heavy but very manageable and much better than a week day from my experience.

Agreed! I'd leave WDW around 10:00 Friday morning (you'll still hit traffic on I-4) and spend the day in St. Augustine.
