I will also post this on the cruise board, but I wanted to ask here as well. Have you experienced any rough waters? Did you purchase trip insurance and have to cancel?

We are planning a four night (wish it could be longer!) cruise on the Dream in late Aug 2012. I know it's peak hurricane season. Just wondering what everyone's experience was. Thanks!

we've done 2 DCL cruise in late August. Never had any problems with hurricanes, but I did buy trip insurance just in case. I didn't buy through DCL though, I bought it on my own through insuremytrip.com...much cheaper!

We've gone on three late August Disney Cruises...a 3 day, 4 day and 7 day. We didn't have an issues with rough seas. We did miss a tropical storm once by about 5-6 days.

I agree with cepmom...get your insurance through insuremytrip.com!! Not only is it cheaper....they are very helpful!!! I would recommend calling then to make sure you get the exact type of insurance you need.

We have also done 2 cruises in late August. The first year it was perfect! No rain, no rough seas, no wind, just beautiful weather. Last year we had beautiful weather but extremely rough seas on the first night of the cruise. We just missed a hurricane and the seas were bad. Luckily as soon as we got into port at Nassau the seas were calm and the rest of the trip was absolutely perfect. Insuremytrip.com was also where we bought our insurance from as they had great prices and covered our airfare since we get that on our own, unlike Disney's insurance. We are actually taking our 3rd cruise in mid-August this year bc we wanted a longer one:)

We typically cruise in late August or September. We've only been impacted once....

Just know that it could happen and that you might want trip insurance.

Let me know if I can answer any other questions.

Ginny
