Have you bought and used a Pal Mickey?

Robo - I don't think the new one starts speaking unless you squeeze it's "tummy" after it shakes??

None of them do.

But ours would not "wiggle" very much at all (he was not getting his wireless "cues").

After the quick reboot, he was wigglin' and gigglin' wanting us to "squeeze him" very frequently.

3-4 times on Main Street before we got to the hub!

When we went in '04 we rented one and he hardly said anything, we took him back and got another, same thing.
I would really like to buy one, but with the past experiance, i'm not too sure.
The way everyone here is describing it, he should have been talking ALOT more.
Anyone know what it costs to rent one for the day/week?

Well thank you.....next time I go down for vacation I just might have to put some money aside to get a pal mickey. Truthfully I have always wanted one but was worried that is was geared more towards kids. It makes me feel better knowing there are other Disney "nuts" out there who love all this stuff as much as I do!!

We have two Mickeys, we got one our trip in 2004 and then my husband bought the 50th Mickey when we went in 2005. I prefer my older one just wish he was louder, and of course my husband and kids love the 50th one because he is in the tux. I love carrying him with us in the parks and he sits on my nightstand when we are home.
Either way he is a special part of the WDW trip and is a great way to continue the memories made at WDW when you get home.

They discontinued the rental program quite awhile back.

You must "make a long-term commitment" (aka BUY) to take the little guy with you to the parks... and back home.

The issue we had with him, is that he wouldn't really say much... he mostly shook and just said jokes referring to an area you were presently in... no character tips, no ride tips, nothing like that... I took him to a CM and they didn't know anything about it. Took him to another CM and they said that was what it was supposed to do.

When he shakes you are supposed to squeeze his stomach. He then has something to say about the ride or area you are in. His shaking is his way of letting you know he has something to say.

Thank you for all the valuable info. I have ordered a Pal Mickey for my daughter. We are leaving for our vacation on her birthday, September 2 and I think this will be the perfect gift. I can not wait to tell DD we are going. I think planning is half the fun!!!
