Have you been in any Natural Disasters?

ummm... we have had school called off for flooding. :confused3 and an earthquake a few years back. that was kinda cool :earboy2: (we don't have earthquakes around here)

Wow! A lot of disasters. I've been through nothing at all. Just thunderstorms and a couple of inches of snow. I'm in NJ.

Living on the San Andreas fault, I've lived through more than my share of earthquakes. If you have to get precise, about 7 or 8. Of course, not all of them were terribly destructive. I've also been in a blizzard, but in an airport waiting to get on the connecting flight to WDW. Oh, and a few mudslides have happened near my house and to my neighbors and friends, but nothing that affected us. Another thing just popped into my head- lightning. I've only been through 5 storms, one of which was in a 3 day stop in Arizona.

So nothing huge, like a tornado or hurricane that's life threatening.

I live in Southern New Hamphsire and I've only been in some blizzards. But none of them were to bad

While I was in DisneyWorld I was in a hurricane. I was Hurricane Gene. :umbrella: We had to stay inside all day. :sad2:Good thing was we got free tickets for 1 free day there. :thewave:

I have been in a 2 week power outage in the middle of winter with no heat
a tornado
a tropical storm
3 ice storms
and 2 blizzards

Last summer because of the hurricanes, there was flooding in our area as well as powerouttages. Where I used to live, it snowed so bad that we were stuck inside our house for a while.

I was at my Grandmothers house in Puerto Rico when Hurricane Jeanne happened... water kept sweeping into our house and knocked down some trees. I remember the NJ/NY Blizzard of 96'.

Nor'easters every year. We used to get one that happened litterally the same weekend every December and power would be out for the whole weekend. We had one in '94 I believe that knocked out power for close to a week. Since they couldn't keep school closed forever the brought in huge generators on flat bed trucks to power the school. For most kids it ended up being the only time for afew days where they were in heat that wasn't provided by a fireplace or woodstove. We had a massive power outage too with Hurricane Bob back in '91 or 92. But I was in northern NH then at my grandparents'. My dad was here in southern NH, and again, no power for a week. We have a generator though, so any time we've ever lost power for significant periods of time we have big neighborhood parties, so people can have lights and heat, and real food (not to mention showers).
Other than that a few tropical storms and ice storms have moved through here but nothing really to talk about there. Some really bad thunderstorms with flash flooding, and some really extreme cold spells. Nothing major though
