Have you been able to book BWV or BCV at 7 mos. out???

Interested the kind of success everyone has had booking the 'hottest' properties at 7 mos. out RECENTLY... for the non-hottest times (not talking about Xmas or Spring Break).

Thanks for your input :)

I got BW view studios (2) without any issue over MLK this year

At the 7 month window we were able to book day by day for the Beach club for late June of this year. At that point is was filing up fast. With more members it will get harder to book at the 7 month window.

End of March I was able to book a 2 bedroom preferred (waitlisted for Boardwalk view) at the BWV in early August. I was surprised, I could have had anything I wanted...and that was before free dining was announced and everyone moved their ressies. I passed originally on Boardwalk View then spoke to my son and he said he'd like to try it, so I'm waitlisted for that now...but otherwise, a little over 4 months out I had quite a choice of locations...

I was able to book a 1BR standard view at BWV at the 7 month mark for the first week of February this year. I think it all depends on the time of year. For my April 2005 trip (during Flower and Garden time at EPCOT), there were no studios or 1BRs available at either BWV or BCV, so I got OKW - which I loved, by the way.

...I had to waitlist BCV for Marathon weekend (Jan), but it came through. The original ressie was made about 3 months prior.

I was able to get BWV BW view for the end of Jan (as it turned out, the same weekend they had the expedition Everest preview :thumbsup2 ) at the 7month window (the SV's were completely booked at the 7 month point).

Just booked for last week of F&W at BWV's at the seven month window. Went day by day and got the first four days. The rest went on the waitlist on the Monday and within three days, I only need one more day to fill out the week. It was for a studio. Similar experience last year. That time split the stay between the BWV's and BCV's. Waitlists do work. This year it is nicer because you can check through the website to see that your days have come in. Previously had to call or wait for snailmail.

I have stayed at the BW 3 times in the last 6 years, all using the 7 month window as I am an OKW owner. All but one of those trips were in a 2 bedroom in the summer months. Last summer, I booked a 2 bedroom at BCV at the 7 month window, no problem.

I snagged a std view 2 bedroom at BWV for 2 weeks from now. We got a studio for the 2nd week of December 2005 at BCV. Loved it :thumbsup2 .

Booked 7 months out...not day by day. BCV studio late August. BWV boardwalk view studio mid-May and BCV 2BR dedicated early August.

Booked a dedicated 2 Queen 2 BR Villa at BCV for Aug 20-27 of this year, at exactly 7 months out, calling day by day. Not sure if I had to do day by day, but the 2 queens are even harder to come by so I wasn't taking any chances. The CM told me it was a good idea to call day by day.

I was able to get a Standard View Studio at BWV for this past March 26 to March 31. I called day-by-day right at the 7-month window and had to waitlist for 2 nights, but those came available within a couple of days.

I was able to book a SV studio at BWV at 7 months out for the week after Sunday through Friday of Labor Day (Sept 3-Sept 8). I didn't need to wait list either. This was also before Free Dining was announced.

I booked two studios at BCV in mid January for mid May...wasn't a problem at all.

We were able to switch from a 2BR BWV to a 2BR BCV at the 7 month window for the latter half of August.

I was convinced that we should buy BCV if that's where we'd most ideally like to stay... but now your responses have me questioning that. Now I'm thinking it makes more sense to buy SSR and trade out, since we generally won't be travelling at the holiday periods/school breaks (at least not for the next 6 years at least!).

So what do you think.... should we buy SSR???

Help--I'm so confused!!! :confused3

Yesterday I booked a studio at BCV for June 9-11, and I was told there were units of all sizes available for those days. Probably because only freaks like me will fork over weekend points like that! :rotfl2:

The problem is that most of the people responding to this thread are the ones who were successful. You need to know the other side of the story: how many people tried to book and were not successful. If 10% succeed in booking BCV 7 months out and 90% do not, that would be very significant. On the other hand if 90% of those who try are successful, then no problem. I have no idea what the actual percentages are but based on this thread you might conclude that booking BCV is rarely a problem and I don't believe that is the case. I think you need to start a thread "Who could NOT get BCV at 7 months out" and ask for the dates (including the year so you know how recent the info is).

Also SSR is not yet fully built. As the number of DVC owners increases and there is no resort to rival BCV's popularity, competition for BCV will likely increase as well. So the "buy where you want to stay" philosophy is based partly on what people expect will happen in the near future as DVC continues to grow.

There is one other aspect to "buy where you want to stay" and that is the ability to plan your trips far in advance. I like that I can book my stay at 11 months out, jump on cheap airfare, book my ADRs 180 days out and I'm done. Adding in the additional step of moving my reservation at 7 months to another resort, possibly going on a wait list for some of the days, deciding whether to wait list "day by day" to improve my chances of getting in but risking not getting all days and having to move between resorts during my stay... no thanks! But then again that bothers some of us more than others so you have to decide what your vacation planning stress tolerance level is.

Good luck with your decision!

I own at VWL. In March I was able to book a studio at BWV for my first solo trip in July. I waitlisted for the BCV and got it this week. Guess I'm among the lucky ones!
