Have you as an adult been scared or overwhelmed on any rides?

I am glad to hear that I am not the only one affected by Dinosaur. My DBF and I went on it the first year it was open (it was called Countdown to Extinction then), and it scared me to death. Within seconds of beginning the ride, I had my eyes closed mumbling "It's not real" to myself over and over. By the time the ride was over, my best friend had to help me out of the car because I was shaking too much to stand on my own. I have never been on it since, and I absolutely refuse to ride Alien Encounter. On the other hand, I love Tower of Terror and Rock N Roller Coaster. Go figure.....

great thread, maybe will help others!

like a lot of people, i've had to learn the hard way, after trying the rides! have not ever been back on the alien thing or tot, after one time. tried astro orbiter on most recent trip, and that goes into the 'can't do' category.

i especially like coasters and like to think that i can do any ride, however, age is starting to wear on me, lol! last time at cedar point, i hit the top of the hill on magnum and thought, 'what am i doing here, i have children to raise!!!'.

ride while you're young, your courage may fade with age!

Well, I used to sit in the front seat on roller coasters....no longer.....I have tried every ride at Disney and I am afraid of drops......I usually get a panic attack on Splash Mountain....it's really hard for me to enjoy that ride....even though once it's over, I'm usually ok,,,,just alittle shaky.

I descend from mid-western Scandinavian Lutherans --- we're not terribly free and open with our emotions. I've given birth four times without screaming or cursing anyone but I screamed non-stop the first time I rode Rockin' Rollercoaster. I went immediately back on with one goal: no screaming! After that small success, I went immediately back on with the goal of keeping my eyes open. Again, I was successful but all that effort dedicated to Vulcan-like emotion control took left me drained. Went back a year later and LOVED it. Go figure.

I'm terribly afraid of heights so the old Astro-orbitor at Disneyland (the one that was on top of that building) scared me to the core of my being. This was AFTER doing Space Mountain and Splash Mountain without batting an eye. My husband still laughs about that. Strangely enough, I love TOT - doesn't scare me a bit. Must be because it's in an enclosed car.

Dinosaur ride.

I had to ride it by myself because DH had to stay with the kids. Needless to say, It was wild. I was just waiting for something to come out and get me. DH went after me( of course I had to be the guinea pig). He said he wasn't going back. I might do it again but I'm going to be prepared. I'm going to bring a flahlight so I can check things out.LOL

For me it's TOT! I HATE anything that free falls! I love roller coasters--but my most unfavorite part of them is that first climb and drop!;)

I was a passenger in a race car at the Tomorrowland Indy Speedway, driven by my three year old who could barely see over the steering wheel! Talk about terror! ;)

The one ride that somewhat got to me was Dinosaur in AK - that was just getting a little too hairy for me at times and I actually ducked a couple of times as well

Space Mountain was a lot of fun but that did hit my stomach a bit - did not get a chance to try TOT or RNR but Star Tours was very funny I thought but I am glad I did not eat before

Thanks
Jason

Back in 1991 I rode Body Wars at EC for the first and last time. When I got off of that ride I thought I was going to pass out. I just have not gone on this ride again.

I rode RnRC back in 2001 for the first and only time. After I got off of the ride I felt "off" for the rest of the day. I have not gone on this ride again either.

LOL it's gotta be DUMBO for me - I find it very scary and not so safe does that strap really keep me in. What with the going up and down and the spinning around. Funny though I don't mind Aladdin's carpets so maybe it's an elephant thing ;)

My DBF is scared of nearly all the E-rides and refuses to ride Space - he did ride BTMR and Dinosaur with me and has said he'd rather not do those again and he was absolutely petrified of Splash not so mush the final big drop more the mini ones inside the ride. I felt bad for making him go on it but am now satisfied that he really does not like them!!

I have to agree with the astro orbiters! Something about the way it tilts out,and how fast it goes, and being so high! I wasnt prepared for it the 1st time I rode it,and I was very unnerved by it! I still wont ride it! But I am scared of heights. For some reason though, rollercoasters I love!

I never used to mind coasters and such, but now I have a plate and 8 screws in my neck and deterioration of my lower spine as well......no more jerky rides of any kind. And the funny thing is that I feel kind of relieved!

I'm so glad to hear someone else mention that Astroorbitor tilted. I felt it was tilting and not too sturdy-that was definitely the ride I was most terrified on.
Now, I don't know what all the fuss is about Dinosaur. Maybe because I rode it but didn't see it? As soon as I got settled in, I closed my eyes, and I didn't open them again til the ride was over. I heard all these people screaming around me, but I don't know what all the fuss was about.

I think I must have closed my eyes the whole time in dinasour too. I can't remember anything in there. All I remember is being jerked around for a long time while my dd screamed in my ear the whole time!!! Definately on my never again list along with space mountain and thunder mountain (I just don't handle mountains well) One day I would like to try splash mountain - is it really that bad? :(

THE SUN WHEEL AT DL!!!!!

Oh my was that an awful experience! It looks like a regular ferris wheel....no big thing....until you get into one of those *swinging* cars that kinda free-float, swinging you back and forth. I was completely unprepared for our first *swing*, and was seated backwards....MAJOR PANIC ATTACK! Which of course, set of DD (7) and DS (9 1/2).....DS was insistant that we SCREAM to be let off.....DH and DS (11 1/2) just wanted out because the rest of us were so embarrasingly terrified!

If I ever do that one again, I'm getting a STATIONARY car. I'd bet we'd have had a great view from way up top, if I coulda shut my mouth and opened my eyes!!!

Alien Encounter:eek:  Had my eyes closed the whole time which was worse!!

I am really enjoying this discussion. :Pinkbounc

Being that this is our first trip to WDW I know what to try and what to try to talk myself into trying.

Maybe someone should do a "Poll" to see what the scariest ride is at WDW. I don't know how or I would.

the second time! The first time I didn't know what to expect and I was with the dh, but the second time I went on with my niece and she cried, so I cried! lol The third time I was going on but my daughter chickened out (THANK GOD!) I was only going on to appease her and she got scared and we left during the preshow. I think I would have just closed my eyes and bared it for her but if I never see that attraction again, it'll be too soon! lol

PS, I LOVE RNRollercoaster!

I really, really identify with Terk-1 and the fear of the big drop. I went on both Splash Mt. and Tower of Terror and those drops got me bad!

Can sort of enjoy Splash a little but always close my eyes when we get to the drop and just grit my teeth. It's over very fast. But I still have a fear of falling out!

Tower of Terror - just forget it... I was begging for it to stop.

But in Dinosaur, which was really intense, I just was so intimidated by that Dino! I nearly crawled on top of my 13 year old son! Of course, I was on the outside and in the front. Not Good! LOL That was one RIDE!
