Sorry if this is a little disjointed, but here goes.

I weigh 256 lbs. I'm only 5'5". I feel like crap and my clothes are tight and I'm miserable. I know I have to do something.

Last year over the months of March to July I lost 30 lbs on the South Beach Diet. After going off the diet for vacation I never went back on and I've regained 26 of those lbs. I know I could probably drop the weight again if I went back on South Beach, but I can't seem to get motivated at all.

Last week, DH and I were in the Bahamas and went jet skiing. I fell off and couldn't get back on by myself. One of the other couples we were with had to go get help from the shore and two guys had to help me onto the back of the jet ski. It was completely humiliating and I was crying etc and it was pretty ugly.

I think this is rock bottom. I don't know where to begin.

Can anyone offer me some ideas and/or support?

I think the first step you have already done by saying you want to take control and do something to change yourself. Now comes the question of what is going to work best for you.

There are so many weight loss programs around that it can be overwhelming to figure out which ones works for you. I know I have tried many different ones. I've tried the I'll eat healthy and workout by myself with no accountability (didn't work), I've tried Jenny Craig (I lost inches but not pounds), I've done Weight Watchers (worked but plateaued and got frustrated) now I am doing Body for Life workout and eating plan but making sure that it still ties in close to WW.

It's a lifestyle change and you need to figure out little things you can do to add in some activity. Since I don't know you I can't say what you could add in but when I first started my weight loss journey as an adult 3 years ago I added in things like taking the stairs instead of the elevator, getting a workout video I could do once or twice a week. When my hubby and I were dating we took walks around a park in the evenings and did little things like that. I built up my endurance and realized I felt better about life. Then I slacked off but last week regained my motivation and am pushing myself outside of my comfort zone.

Accountability for me is a huge thing. I started my WISH journal last week and I make sure I post in there what I have eaten, and how I have worked out. If I am excited about something I have done, or an accomplishment I have made I post that too. There is so much support here that it's overwhelming. I have spent quite a bit of time reading others journals and am amazed at what has been accomplished.

Set a mini goal to start. Something like tomorrow I will eat only so many calories and do 10 minutes of excercise then follow through with it. Plan a menu, that helps me so much! Get rid of temptations. I don't have ice cream or any trigger foods in my house anymore so I have to make a conscious effort to get them when I want them so for ice cream i usually go to a ice cream shop instead of getting the half gallon.

Those are just a few of the things I do, and I by no means know it all or have many answers. I am just trying to find what works best for me. Everyone here is so supportive, I hope to see you around. :)

I just wanted to welcome you. :wave2: I have been learning a lot by reading the journals. There is a lot of info there, a bit overwhelming but it is helping me to remember that I am not alone. :goodvibes

:wave2: Just wanted to say hello ! And let you know you'e not alone :grouphug:

So many people struggle with their weight. (ME!) The key is to make the decision to do something different. For me, WW is the only thing that has ever worked. I'm starting back this week actually, after gaining 25 of the 40 pounds I'd lost back. And not online, and not just trying to do it at home myself. I need the accountability of going and standing on the scale in front of somebody. And SUPPORT is key. I went to WW meetings with 2 friends, and we all did the system together and had a blast! After meetings we'd all go out for coffee, shopping, whatever! Maybe this board will be enough support for you, but you need to have somebody who's on your side.

You're going to do great! It's not easy, but YOU CAN DO IT :cheer2:

I just found this thread from last year. I'm the OP. At that time I promised myself I'd lose 50 lbs. before my 40th birthday.

Well, I joined Weight Watchers and I've been doing really well. The anniversary of "the jetski incident" is 10/05. I weighed-in at 213 lbs. last Thursday! That's 43 lbs. since last October. So, I have 7 lbs. to go to make my goal of 50 lbs. within a year!

I still want to lose more, but I am so happy I've come this far!
