Have to cancel...tickets now expire Dec. 2018. Anything I can do?

My MIL is under hospice care and our trip is in 2 weeks. Our tickets expire Dec. 2018 and we won’t be able to reschedule. Is there anything I can do? I bought the tickets straight through Disney. Can I apply what I paid toward next year’s tickets or upgrade to something and not lose them? Any thoughts? They are 4 adult 5 days tickets.

At this time, if never used, all new MYW tickets have an expiration date.
(The date of this expiration will be shown when the ticket purchased.)
However, if this ticket is never used by a guest and allowed to expire,
the purchase price of the ticket is not "lost" to the guest.
The unused and expired ticket can be turned in at WDW and its original purchase price can be applied to the purchase of a new ticket of like or greater value.

You would not lose the value of the tickets. No worries.
 
So, Because I don’t have a physical ticket, do I just call after they expire and purchase them over the phone? And they will apply them to my MDE account? Sorry if I seem confused.
